Curtis F. Mullins, 90, of New Providence and formerly of Oxford, passed away on Thursday, March 17, 2016 at Jennersville Regional Hospital. Born in Mountain City, TN, he was a son of the late Sigh and Ina (Lee) Mullins. He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Alice “Gertrude” (Eggers) Mullins. Curtis had been a machine operator for NVF in Kennett Square. He was a member of Nottingham Missionary Baptist Church and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family. Bonnie M. Ray, 65, of Winter Hill Road, Strasburg died unexpectedly of natural causes at her residence on Saturday, March 19, 2016. She was the wife of Kenneth R. Ray, Sr. Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Benjamin Franklin and Betty Jane Patton Armstrong. A homemaker, she was a member of Zion United Church of Christ, Strasburg, PA. Bonnie loved to bake, cook, play bingo, and most importantly spend time with her family. Nelson Lugo, 67, of West Grove, passed away on Wednesday, March 16, 2016 at his home.
He was the husband of Jacqueline Serrano Lugo with whom he shared 29 years of marriage. Born in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico, he was the son of the late Nelson and Teresa Lugo Vazquez. Nelson was a member of St. Agnes Church, West Chester. He was employed with United Technologies, Lionville. Nelson loved boating, riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle and gardening. Edwin C. Metzger, 80, of Quarryville, PA, born March 4, 1936, went to be with the Lord on March 16, 2016. He was the husband of the late Marjorie Ulmer Metzger. Born in York PA, a son of the late Mahlon and Mildred Barr Metzger. Ed had proudly served in the US Marine Corp from 1953-1957. He was a member of Local 158 Heavy Highway Construction Workers, where he served as business agent and president for 15 years. He retired in 1999. Karen E. Chambers Zakarian, 77, of Strasburg PA, went to be in heaven on March 13, 2016. She was the wife of the late Rev. Howard Chambers who passed away in December 2003, and the late Paul Zakarian who passed away in June 2015. Born in Plattsburgh NY, a daughter of the late Clarence and Mildred Westcott Shene. A homemaker, and pastor’s wife, Karen was a caregiver to many. She is survived by 2 sons: Steven Chambers (Laurie), Thomas Chambers, 4 grandchildren: Kaitlyn, Joshua, Natalie, Sophia, and her sister Dorothy Hardy (Ken). Martha A. McCardell MacLeod, 79, of Mt Joy PA, went to be with her Lord on March 14, 2016. Born in Obal, NC, a daughter of the late Walter and Ada Vannoy Bare. She had retired from the Tyco Crop, Mt. Joy. Martha is survived by 4 children: Dale McCardell, Mt Joy, Gale Rineer, (Leroy K. Christ), Millersville, Donald Carr, Pittsburgh, Barry S. Carr, (Meghan Carr) AZ, 6 grandchildren: Rachelle, Janelle, Erica, William, Hennessy, Kristian, 3 great grandchildren: Kaiden, Jaxon, Vivian and her sister, Mary Phillips, Media, PA. She was preceded in death by her sister Alma Landis and brother William Bare. Thomas C. “Chuck” Gillespie, 67, of Peach Bottom PA, passed away on March 14, 2016. He was born in Peach Bottom PA, a son of the late Thomas and Bonnie Greer Gillespie. Chuck had retired after 30 years with GM, Newark DE. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, hauling his Amish neighbors, and enjoyed roasting pigs for family, friends and special events. Gary Alan Clanton, 48, of West Grove passed peacefully into the arms of Jesus on Monday, March 14, 2016 of natural causes at Jennersville Regional Hospital, West Grove, PA. Born in West Chester he was the son of Gary L. and Lois J. Griest Clanton of West Grove. Alan loved to travel and spent many vacations in the South with his Uncle Lance and extended family, also in California. He enjoyed country music and had met many country music stars. He was an amazing swimmer with an unique ability to hold his breath swimming underwater for long periods of time. He brought joy to his family his entire life and will be missed beyond measure. Jerry Lee Lefever, 38, of Holtwood, PA passed away unexpectedly of natural causes on Saturday, March 12, 2016. He was a graduate of Solanco High School class of ‘97 and Willow Street Vo Tech auto mechanics course. Jerry loved his dogs, tractor pulling, fishing, hunting, and hanging out with family and friends. Jerry was co-owner of Doulin’s Garage, Holtwood and more recently his own Lefever Transport business. Barbara E. Chilletti, 68, of New Providence, entered into rest at her home on Friday, March 11, 2016, surrounded by her family. Born in Binghamton, NY, she was the daughter of the late Earl and Grace (Bendler) Brady. She and her husband, Joseph A. Chilletti had celebrated 48 years of marriage in April. Barbara retired from Lancaster General Hospital. She was a member of St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church and enjoyed sewing and gardening. |
