Brenda S. Schneider of Quarryville, passed away of complications from Alzheimer’s Disease on Saturday, January 6, 2024. She was 67 years old. She was the beloved daughter of the late Lloyd L. and Esther (Frick) Schneider who resided in New Providence. Brendy worked for her Poppy at his place of business, Mt. Airy Lumber Co., as the office manager for many years. She graduated from Solanco High School in 1974 and attended the Wilma Boyd Travel School in Pittsburgh. Born in New Castle, DE, she was the daughter of the late Daniel W. and Edna (Krastel) Moore. She was the loving wife of the late William H. Skiles who died in 2013. Pat had worked as a secretary for Dupont Industries. She was later employed by Keystone Custom Homes as a customer service representative. Jane F. Roten, 84, of Oxford, PA, died on Sunday, January 7, 2024 at home after a brief illness surrounded by her beloved family. She was the wife of Roy L. Roten of Oxford. Jane was the daughter of the late John N. and Frances Whiteside Fetters. Jane was born in Oxford. Jane was a graduate of Oxford Area High School Class of 1957. She worked for the Bell Telephone Company in Oxford and the Oxford Area School District in the Cafeteria, then became a homemaker. She was a Den Mother of Cub Pack 39 and served 14 years. She enjoyed working with plastic canvas, camping and going to the mountains. She really enjoyed all of her grandchildren, Andrew, Lee, Tabitha, Samuel, Mercedes, Noah (deceased) and Josh as well as all of her great-grandchildren, Max, Victoria, Tommy, Claire, Cole, Jenna and Abel. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Oxford where she served as a Sunday School Teacher for over 40 years. Carl E. Farmer, age 71, of New Providence, PA, passed away on Thursday, January 4, 2024. Born in Drumore, he was the son of the late James and Evelyn Hanna Farmer. Carl was preceded in death by his late wife Gloria Weidman Farmer, whom he celebrated 37 years of marriage with. He worked for ALCOA as a Forklift Operator. Carl faithfully served his country in the Navy. When Carl had time he enjoyed watching NASCAR races with his wife, Gloria (she usually fell asleep right after the first lap). He was a die hard Pittsburgh Steelers fan and one of his favorite pastimes was bowling. David L. Carter, 87, of Oxford, PA, passed away on Sunday, January 7, 2024 at Citizens Care Nursing Home, Havre de Grace, MD. He was the husband of Viola Nickle Carter with whom he shared 66 years of marriage. Born in Glen Roy, PA he was the son of the late Charles F. and Edith Everett Carter. David was employed with Penn Fuel, Oxford. After retirement he became a school crossing guard and mowed lawns. He was a member and volunteer for the Union Fire Company #1, Oxford and Fire Police. Born in New Brunswick, NJ, she was the daughter of the late Emory J. and Julia (Pinter) Revy. She was the loving wife of the late Joseph D. Lengyel for 63 years at the time of his passing in 2011. Lillian worked as a secretary for most of her working life. She enjoyed reading and gardening. She was known for being thrifty and finding creative and clever ways to recycle everyday items. Ronald C. Rineer, 81, of Quarryville, entered into rest on Thursday, January 4, 2024. Born in Quarryville, he was the son of the late Clair and Sylvia (Reinhart) Rineer. He was the loving husband of Mary Ann (Swayne) Rineer. They recently celebrated 60 years of marriage. Ron was a self-employed electrician for over 35 years. He began his career with the former Zimmerman and Walsh Electrical Engineering and Contracting, Inc. in Quarryville. Earl T. Cramer Jr, age 77, of Conestoga, PA, passed away on Wednesday, January 3, 2024. He was the son of the Late Earl T. Sr. and Jeannette K. Smith Cramer. Earl was the husband of Susan Stapf Cramer, who he celebrated 52 years of marriage with. He worked first as a welder, then became a commercial artist for multiple advertising firms. He finished his working career as a security guard at Willow Valley Communities. Lincoln E. “Linc” Bonawitz, 82 of Strasburg, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, January 3, 2024. He was the beloved husband of Susanne I. (Kopp) Bonawitz, with whom he shared 60 years of marriage. He was born May 11, 1941, to the late Edward and Amelia (Bleacher) Bonawitz. Linc proudly served his country in the U.S. Army from 1958 – 1961. He then went on to be employed by High Associates, most recently as supervisor of groundskeeping, and he retired with 35 years of service. In his spare time, Linc enjoyed going deer hunting, deep sea fishing with his brother and his friends in Ocean City, MD, and he treasured family get togethers. Linc also attended Lancaster Church of the Nazarene. Rhoda F. Jackson, 87, of Tanglewood, passed away on Friday, December 29, 2023, at her home. She was the loving wife of the late Stanley H. Jackson, with whom she shared 60 years of marriage at the time of his passing in 2018. Born in Altoona, she was the daughter of the late Simon R. and Maybelle S. (Ellis) Feight. Rhoda was a graduate of Franklin High School in Reisterstown, MD, class of 1954. Following high school, she attended Columbia Bible College for two years. For many years Rhoda worked with her husband at Paradise Homes. Most recently, she was employed in the deli department of Ferguson and Hassler Supermarket. |
