Anna E. Metzler of Bunker Hill Rd., Strasburg, died at Lancaster General Hospital on Friday, May 9, 2014. She was 83. Mrs. Metzler was born in East Petersburg, a daughter of the late Benjamin and Florence Myers Huber. She worked with her husband in the family business, Metzler Mower Service. She had also worked in the cafeteria at Strasburg Elementary School. Mrs. Metzler was a member of the Refton Brethren in Christ Church, where she was involved with the Prayer Shawl Ministry. She was also an active volunteer with the Solanco Food Bank and had been a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Strasburg Fire Company.
Mrs. Metzler is survived by her husband of 63 years, Ivan D. Metzler; three children, Donald Metzler of Strasburg, Joann, wife of Jeffrey Brubaker of Strasburg, and Patricia, wife of Lloyd Reese Jr. of Willow Street; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and her sister, Kathryn Rohrer of Lancaster. A son, Glenn Metzler; her brother, John Huber; and her daugther-in-law, Sara Rineer Metzler, are deceased. Friends may call at the Refton Brethren in Christ Church, 110 Church St., Refton, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 13. Services will be held from the church at 12:30 p.m. on that date with Pastor Michael Anderson and Pastor Kenneth Hershey officiartaing. A private burial service will be held in the New Providence Mennonite Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
