It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Best Friend, Patricia Louise Tierney, of Quarryville. On Tuesday August 23, 2022 Nanny’s heart decided that she had watched too many old westerns and it was time to be reunited with her parents, brother and sister. We take comfort knowing that she is no longer in pain and will be an angel on all of our shoulders. Nanny was born April 30, 1944 in Willow Grove Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Richard Sr. and Helen (Rieco) Belfatti. In her teenage years she was voted Best Dressed and Best Dancer at school and even danced on American Bandstand, she definitely had the moves and the looks! Nanny’s brother the late Richard (Dick) Belfatti Jr. always had the fastest cars and the stories we’ve heard about Nanny cruising around in them with her friends never gets old. Of course she caught the eye of our father George F. Tierney Jr (surviving) who loved fast cars just as much as he loved our mom. They were married October 17, 1964, both of them being the young age of 20. In 1973 when Nanny and Poppy moved to Lancaster County, PA she missed getting together with her late sister Carol (Belfatti) Hinderliter (Clair Hinderliter) and their children. Nanny and Poppy went on to have 3 children whom she is survived by, Mike Tierney, Patricia Henry (James Tusar) and Barbara Rebman (Pete Rebman). She is also survived by 3 Granddaughters, Samantha (Henry) Ochoa (Jeff Ochoa), Miranda Boyd, Fiance of Tyler Gross and Georgie (Boyd) Busbee (Cody Busbee) along with 3 Great Grandchildren, Sofia Ochoa, August Ochoa and Forrest Ochoa. We cannot forget her dog and granddogs that she loved dearly, Nikki, Benji, Bobo, Taco and Reno.
In 1977 Nanny studied her hardest and passed her state exam to become a Licensed Realtor. She was a successful Realtor and took pride in helping her clients achieve their dream home ownership. She had won multiple awards and designations but never lost sight of the fun side of work. Our best memories are when she worked for Dan Diller, The Gallery of Homes. Back then they had CB type radios in their cars to call back to the office, the channel was shared with the local towing company next door. I loved riding with her and hearing “KGQ565 Mobile One To Base”. We all won’t forget they day she was showing a house and the owners dog came out and peed on her leg…pantyhose and all! That was followed up by her leaving an open house, backing out of the clients driveway and running over their mailbox by accident. Nanny worked hard and went on to become a Licensed Broker along with an Appraiser. In 2006 she was in a car accident that ended her career but also started a decline in her health. We are so proud of her and her accomplishments in her career. In our younger years she made the most beautiful ceramics at the studio in Quarryville, she was truly talented and we will cherish her pieces forever. Nanny loved our summer house in Northeast Maryland, going to the fireman’s festivals and playing bingo. She also enjoyed going to Atlantic City with Poppy or one of us kids for a few days here and there. On one particular visit to Trump Plaza for her birthday there was a gift basket waiting in her room when she checked in. She was so excited to find a $100 black chip in the basket along with all of the other goodies. We went down to the cage to trade it in and they called security over. She was questioned heavily on where the chip came from, unbeknownst to Nanny it was a chocolate chip in foil wrapper she was trying to cash in, they were kind enough to not ask us to leave! Our mother and father instilled in us to respect other, take care of the less fortunate and to live for the moment, you never know when it will be your last. We already miss Nanny dearly but know she’s up in heaven pulling that one armed bandit with her mom. Services will be held privately with the family. Arrangements entrusted to Reynolds & Shivery Funeral Home, Inc. of Quarryville. Comments are closed.
