Merlin Louise Groff, 79, of Quarryville, PA, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, September 20, 2017. She was born in Venture District, Bethel Town, Westmoreland, Jamaica, West Indies. She was the daughter of the late Walter Barrett and Doris Crimmon. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Clayton Rohrer Groff. Merlin Louise Barrett migrated from Old Harbour, Jamaica, to Lancaster, PA, in 1991 to live with the James B. McFarlane Sr. family. She met and married John C. Groff, a family friend. She was a member of Rawlinsville Mennonite Church. She worked as a Nurse Aide in NYC and PA. She is fondly remembered and appreciated by the Amish that she always said Praise the Lord when she rode along on trips with her husband, who taxied Amish for many years. Louise is survived by nine of her ten children, Avril Amanda McFarlane, wife of James B. McFarlane, of Frystown; Winsome Ionie Kelly, of Brockton MA, Oniel N. Harvey “Sherri”, of Lancaster, Maxine Elizabeth Barrett-Crespo, wife of Josue Crespo, of Quarryville; Gene Spence Ricardo Cooper, of Jamaica, husband of Gwendolyn Bethune Cooper, of England, Dezineil Omar Morrison, husband of Lolita O'Connor Morrison, of Jamaica, Mojibola Adeneke Morrison, of Cayman Island, Joseph Franseco Bent, of PA, Calvin Edward Bent, of Lancaster; daughter-in-love, Leslie Suarez Morales, of Lititz; step-sons, Dale, husband of Kim Groff, of Dalmatia, Daniel, husband of Yvonda Groff, of PA; and many grandchildren, step-grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She is also survived by two brothers, Squire McFadden, of Montego Bay, and Stephen Fletcher, Kingston, Jamaica; sisters, Lorna, Betty, and Coleen Fletcher, of Jamaica, and Lesline Stephenson, of Ottawa, Canada. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Yvonne Dermina Leslie, a step-son, John F. Groff, and
Siblings, Edna McFadden and Earl Honeywell. Funeral Services will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 2, 2017 at Rawinsville Mennonite Chruch, 838 Susquehannock Drive, Holtwood, PA, with Pastors Paul Hess and John Reeser officiating. There will be viewing at the church on Sunday evening, October 1, from 4-6 p.m., and also one hour prior to the service. Interment will take place in the adjoining church cemetery.
