John N. Gehron of the Quarryville Presbyterian Retirement Community died at home on Thursday, May 14, 2015. He was 80. Mr. Gehron was born in Drumore, a son of the late John Henry and Helen Good Gehron. He lived in Cochranville before moving to the retirement community three years ago. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War era. Mr. Gehron worked for Lukens Steel for 41 years before retiring. He was a member of the Rough & Tumble Engineers Museum. He enjoyed collecting and restoring older John Deere tractors. Mr. Gehron also spent hours researching genealogies. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and visiting the cabin he built in the mountains. He was a lifelong avid Baltimore Orioles fan. Mr. Gehron is survived by his wife of 60 years, Louise M. Sizemore Gehron; three children, Michael, husband of Alberta Gehron of Cochranville, Nancy, wife of Scott Silverstein of Lancaster, and Robert, husband of Debora Gehron of Honey Brook; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; his brother, Donald, husband of Betty Gehron of Peach Bottom; and his sister, Elsie Gehron of West Grove.
A son, John Edward Gehron; three brothers, Edward Gehron, Joseph Gehron, and James Gehron; and a sister, Barbara Carl, are deceased. Friends may call at Reynolds Funeral and Cremation Services, 144 E. State St., Quarryville, from 11 a.m. until noon on Tuesday, May 19. Services will be held from the funeral home at noon on Tuesday with Chaplain Stephen L. Phillips officiating. Burial will be in the Chestnut Level Presbyterian Cemetery.
