Robert W. “Bob” Eckardt, 95, passed away on Sunday, December 30, 2018, at Quarryville Presbyterian Retirement Community. Born in Philadelphia, PA he was the son of George and Lilian Eckardt of Frankford, PA. Bob was a graduate of Frankford High School, Drexel University, and Westminster Theological Seminary, Glenside, PA. He retired from pastoral ministry in 2002 after serving churches in Bellmawr, NJ, Evergreen Park, IL, Wilmington, DE, Cedar Falls, IA, and Whitinsville MA. He was a member of the Orthodox Presbytery Church since its inception in 1936. Bob is survived by his wife, Mary Youngman Eckardt; a son, Robert Youngman Eckardt; and a son, Richard George Eckardt also surviving are 6 grandchildren: Erica Pinter, Emily Yann, Ethan Eckardt, Rachel Super, Zachary Eckardt, Gabriella Eckardt and 6 great-grandchildren: Alexander Pinter, Lydia Super, Anika Super, Christopher Eckardt, Grayson Eckardt, and Laura Eckardt. Robert was preceded in death by a son, Douglas Marsden Eckardt, a brother, George Herbert Eckardt, Jr., and a brother, Charles Lincoln Eckardt.
Bob will be deeply missed by many family and friends, and by those to whom he ministered over 46 years. With hope in the Lord and his resurrection, we grieve but not as those who have no hope. A graveside service will take place at George Washington Memorial Park, 80 Stenton Rd., Plymouth Meeting, PA on Friday, January 4, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. There will be a memorial service to follow at 2:00 p.m. at the Quarryville Presbyterian Retirement Community, 625 Robert Fulton Highway, Quarryville, PA 17566.
