Gladys M. Miller, 79, of Mason Court, Lancaster, PA passed into the arms of Christ, with her loving family surrounding her, on May 12, 2015 at Hospice & Community Care, Mt Joy. She was the widow of C. Darwin “Sam” Miller. Born in Bart Township, she was the daughter of the late Roy and Jean Graybill Swinehart. Gladys was a lifelong and active member of Refton Brethren in Christ Church and the Refton Fire Company Auxiliary. She had been employed by Shank’s Extract, Inc. for 33 years as a production worker, retiring in September 2014. She had also been employed by Slaymaker Poultry at both their Philadelphia and Lancaster Central Market stands. She was an avid Philadelphia sports fan, enjoying the Phillies, Eagles, & 76ers. She was also a very loving grandmother to her grandchildren and great grandchildren. The family wishes to thank Hospice & Community Care for the excellent services and care that was extended to their mother. Surviving her are 5 children, Rodney L. (Nettie) Miller of Willow Street, Donna L. (Michael) Lewis of New Providence, Sallie L. (Craig) Rhineer, Sr. of Lampeter, Wendy S. Hall of Lancaster, Marcy L. (Trung) Le of Middletown, DE; 11 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; a sister, Jean Miller of Coatesville, 2 brothers, Robert Swinehart of East Petersburg, and Ronald Swinehart of Mountville.
Gladys was preceded in death by 3 siblings, Charlotte Kauffman, Roy Swinehart, and Jerry Swinehart. Funeral services will be held at Refton Brethren in Christ Church, 110 Church Street, Refton, PA on Saturday, May 16, 2015 at 11:30AM with Pastor Mike Anderson officiating. Interment will follow in Strasburg Mennonite Cemetery. All viewings will be held at the church, on Friday from 6:30-8:30PM and again on Saturday from 10:00AM until the time of service.
