Clair E. Kreider, 93, of Quarryville, entered into rest on Tuesday, September 26, 2017 at the Quarryville Presbyterian Retirement Community, where he and his wife Betty had been residing since October 2014. Born at home in Mechanic Grove, he was the son of the late John and Violetta (Ruhl) Kreider. Clair and his wife, Betty (Fisher) Kreider, had celebrated 72 years of marriage in June. Clair was a dairy farmer for 35 years. After farming, he went on to work for the Eschbach Bus Service, where he drove and also trained many of the school bus drivers in southern Lancaster County. Clair retired on his 80th birthday after 60 years of service and was named Solanco employee of the year in 1995. Clair loved the Lord. He grew up attending Mechanic Grove Church of the Brethren. He and Betty served as Deacons for many years. The two went on to become founding members of Lampeter Church of the Brethren, where he served on the church board, sang in the choir, taught Sunday school, and welcomed everyone as they entered the church on Sunday mornings. Clair was supportive of his community and could be seen at the Brethren Disaster Relief auction, starting in 1977, where he helped found and chair the heifer fund. He sang in the Kreider Quartet along with his brother and cousins. Clair enjoyed softball and played in the church league. He finished up his ball playing as an All-star on the Willow Street Old Timers League. Surviving besides his wife are 6 children, Clair Jr. (Louise), Lititz, Lynda Frutchey (Richard), Quarryville, Dennis (Jill), Quarryville, Keith (Nancy), Quarryville, Kathy Williams, Lancaster, and Kevin (Kay), Humble, TX, along with 11 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are brothers, J. Russel, J. Donald (Frances), and Glen (Anna Mary). He was preceded in death by a sister, Jane Good, and a brother, J. Lester Kreider.
