Charlotte Ferguson McSparran of the Quarryville Presbyterian Retirement Community died on Wednesday, December 11, 2013. She was 93. Mrs. McSparran was born in Quarryville, a daughter of the late Ellis E. and Lottie M. Shaub Ferguson. She lived in Peach Bottom before moving to the retirement community six years ago. She graduated from Quarryville High School and Drexel College. Mrs. McSparran worked with her parents at Ferguson & Hassler's store and the former Ferguson's Dress shop, both in Quarryville. She worked with her husband on the family's dairy farm and traveled with him during his years with Mid-Atlantic Milk Cooperative. The couple also prepared taxes for many in the community. Mrs. McSparran was a member of Chestnut Level Presbyterian Church and the Order of the Eastern Star.
She is survived by her sons, Robert B. Jr., husband of Judy Wilson McSparran of Chestertown, Md., James Ellis McSparran of Seal Beach, Calif., and John W., husband of Gail James McSparran of Peach Bottom; her daughter, Judy W., wife of Craig Ausel of Quarryville; her grandchildren, Anne DiGregory, R. Boyd McSparran III, Craig J. McSparran, Joshua J. McSparran, Jonathan J. McSparran, Whitney E. McSparran, J. Patrick Ausel, and Andrew T. Ausel; and great-grandchildren Molly DiGregory and Katie DiGregory. Her husband, Robert B. McSparran, died in 2007. Three brothers, Truman Ferguson, Willis Ferguson, and Edsel Ferguson, are also deceased. Friends may call at the Chestnut Level Presbyterian Church, 1068 Chestnut Level Rd., Quarryville PA 17566, from 10 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, December 14. Services will be held from the church at 11 a.m. on that date with the Rev. Dr. Michael Wilson officiating. Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Chestnut Level Presbyterian Church Building Fund. Arrangements were made through Dewald Funeral and Cremation Services, Quarryville. Comments are closed.
