Charles Patrick Michener, age 69, passed away on February 3, 2017 at the home of his son, Donald. He was lovingly known as "Pat". He was born in Charleroi, PA. As a very young child, his family moved to Fairless Hills, PA where he grew up. He fought the hard battle of cancer, but sadly lost. He is survived by his two sons, Donald Michener of Nottingham, PA husband of Jill Michener, Steven Michener of Austin TX, and his granddaughter Abby Michener, Austin, TX. He is also survived by his siblings; Dona Hullihen wife of James Hullihen, Myrtle Beach, SC, Lila Resh wife of Bruce Resh, Ridgeland, SC, James Michener husband of Kim Michener, Ephrata, PA, and a myriad of nieces and nephews and their children. He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Margaret Michener. Pat was witty and had an artful way of looking at life. He was loved by friends and family. Younger generations called him "Uncle Pat" whether they were related or not. Uncle Pat had a way of observing situations and adding his commentary, letting all present know that he never missed a thing. He also displayed incredibly sweet moments at unexpected times that endeared him to the hearts of others. Pat graduated from Pennsbury High School in Bucks County, PA. He went on to Temple University to study accounting, where he graduated with his Associates degree. He began his career working for Atlantic Products in Trenton, NJ. He then moved his family to Lancaster, PA where he worked for Hamilton Watch. Always having a "pioneer spirit" and wanting to become an entrepreneur, he moved again to Austin TX, where after some experience as an owner of a donut franchise and then a pizza shop, he established a business known as Michener's Outdoors. After some years, he relocated this business to back to Lancaster PA to be near his family.
Pat enjoyed the company of many friends and always made time for family gatherings. He also was an avid reader. He became involved in the Ephrata AmVets and helped in the formation of the Ephrata Chapter of the Moose Club. A celebration of Pat's life will be held in the near future in Lancaster, PA. Donations in his memory can be sent to Heartland Hospice, 5 Christy Drive, Suite 103, Chadds Ford, PA 19317. Arrangements entrusted to Reynolds Funeral & Cremation Services, Inc., Quarryville, PA.
