Charles C. Roten, Jr., 66, of Silver Springs Road, Holtwood died Friday morning, October 31, 2014 at Lancaster General Hospital. He and his wife, Mary O. Trimble Roten were married for 44 years. Charles was born on November 10, 1947 in Marion, VA, Smyth County to the late Charles C. and Frances E. Thompson Roten, Sr. He was a 1967 graduate of Solanco High School. Following high school he served his county in the US Army as a SP5, helicopter mechanic during the Vietnam War, being honorably discharged in 1970. He was a member of American Legion Post #945. Charles worked for the former Trojan Yacht Company and then worked in maintenance for Harrison Senior Living, Christiana, PA from which he retired at the beginning of this year.
Charles enjoyed reading, watching western and history movies, spending time with his two dogs, Sparky and Ginger, playing solitaire, and helping out his family and friends. Surviving beside his wife Mary are 4 children, Roger (Meschelle Sensenig) Roten of Holtwood, Linda (Paul) Myers of Peach Bottom, Jeff (Kerri Smith) Roten of Gap, Cora (fiancé Max Williams) Roten of Port Lincoln, South Australia; 7 grandchildren; and a brother Steven (Joyce) Roten of Little Britain. Funeral services will be held at Reynolds Funeral & Cremation Services, Inc., 144 East State Street, Quarryville, PA on Saturday, November 8, 2014 at 11:00AM with Rev. Thomas P. Milligan officiating. Interment will follow in Conestoga Memorial Park. A viewing will be held from 10:00AM until the time of service.
