Kathryn Lorraine Loraw of Masonic Village, Elizabethtown, died on Wednesday, September 3, 2014. She was 87.
Mrs. Loraw worked in manufacturing for Armstrong Corporation and for M&M/Mars. She is survived by her son, Daniel Loraw of Holtwood. Her husband, Joseph H. Loraw, is deceased. Services and burial will be private. Arrangements were made through Dewald Funeral and Cremation Services, Quarryville. Doris L. Hough, of Peach Bottom, entered into rest on August 28, 2014. She was born in Somerville, New Jersey, daughter of the late DeWitt and Lydia (Sieben) Bacorn. Her husband, George W. Hough, died in 2004. She was 87. In earlier years Doris and her late husband operated their dairy farm in Peach Bottom. She was an accomplished artist, and enjoyed painting animals and flowers. Her work has been exhibited in the Quarryville Library and other venues and a piece is currently on display at Lancaster County Art Association in Strasburg. Doris was a member of the Lancaster County Art Association and the Octorara Art Association. She would generously donate artwork to local charities for fundraisers. Janice Potoka of the Quarryville Presbyterian Retirement Community died on Friday, August 15, 2014. She was 88. Mrs. Potoka was born in Binghampton, N.Y., a daughter of the late Kenneth and Lillian Morgan. She and her husband moved to the retirement community in 2007. She graduated from the National Bible Institute, New York City, in 1948 with a diploma in Christian Education. Mrs. Potoka was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Binghampton. Jon C. Lefever, of Lancaster, died at Lancaster General Hospital on Sunday, August 10, 2014. He was 46. Mr. Lefever was born in Lancaster , son of the late Marvin R. and Isabelle O. Stottlemyer. He was a 1986 graduate of Penn Manor High School and was a member of the FFA. He had been self-employed in the construction/remodeling trade for many years. Jon was a member of Crossway Chruch, where he served in various capacities. Jon had recently returned from a church missions trip to the Bahamas, where he was able to use his carpentry skills to help those in need. Helping others brought him much joy. Norma Jeanne Bartram of Oxford died at home on Monday, August 4, 2014. She was 76. Mrs. Bartram was born in Oxford, a daughter of the late Ivory and Arvilla Lutman Prewitt. She was a homemaker. Mrs. Bartram enjoyed crafting, canning, gardening, and maintaining a beautiful, loving home for her family. She is survived by four children, Grace R. Caputo of Lansdowne, Greg L., husband of Melissa McMichael Caputo of Oxford. Gretchen J. Bartram of Oxford, and Greannae E. Bartram, wife of Chris Cloud of Oxford; four grandchildren, Tiernan, Stratton, Christian, and Cara; and four brothers, Richard D. Prewitt of Oxford, Robert A. Prewitt of Oxford, Ronald L. Prewitt of Oxford, and Rodney G. Prewitt of Kirkwood. Friends may call at the Edward L. Collins Funeral Home, 86 Pine St., Oxford, from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, August 7. Services will be held from the funeral home at 11 a.m. on Friday, August 8. Burial will be in the Oxford Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Lighthouse Youth Center, P.O. Box 38, Oxford PA 19363. Evelyn Mae McComsey of New Providence died on Saturday, July 26, 2014. She was 88. Mrs. McComsey was born in Lancaster County, a daughter of the late Ira and Myrtle Rineer Rinier. In her early years, she worked for the former Tidy Products, Quarryville. She went on to work at the former RCA plant in Lancaster. She retired from RCA. She enjoyed her flower garden, vacations at the beach and Hawaii, and spending time with her family. John Urbano of Quarryville died on Wednesday, July 23, 2014, from injuries he sustained in an auto accident in Colerain Township. He was 83. Mr. Urbano was born in Philadelphia, a son of the late Anthony and Maria Salvo Urbano. When he moved to the Southern End, he built his own house. He worked as a mechanical designer for United Engineers until he retired. Mr. Urbano was a member of St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, Quarryville. Howard Bernard Steinberg of the Quarryville Presbyterian Retirement Community died at home on Wednesday, July 23, 2014. He was 91. Mr. Steinberg was born in New York City, a son of the late Julius and Belle Abramowitz Steinberg. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army and the U.S. Army Air Corps. He worked for the Pennsylvania Bureau of Employment Security for many years. He had also worked for O.A. Clark at the Lancaster Stockyard and for the U.S. Postal Service. Jordan McKinley Reyburn Jr. of Oxford died at home on Friday, July 25, 2014. He was 70. Mr. Reyburn was born in Oxford, a son of the late Jordan McKinley Sr. and Alice Marion Griffith Reyburn. He graduated from Oxford Area High School in 1962. Mr. Reyburn was a lifelong resident of Upper Oxford Township. Daniel Isaac Lugo of Quarryville died Sunday, July 13, 2014. He was 18. He was born at Providence Hospital in Anchorage, Alaska on June 29, 1996. He loved to talk to adults and had an opinion on everything. Daniel loved Alaska – never wanted to live anywhere else. In August, 2007 Daniel and his family moved to Quarryville. Music played a large role in his middle and high school life. Although he started with the bass clarinet in Alaska, it was with Mr. Doll that he learned to play the tenor and baritone sax. More recently he was playing around with the keyboard and looked forward to getting his own piano. |
