Carmen R. Ford Hight of the Quarryville Presbyterian Retirement Community died on Monday, December 9, 2013. She was 88. Mrs. Hight was born in Bradford County, a daughter of the late Herman and Zella Conrad Ford. She moved to Quarryville in 1987. She graduated from Camptown High School and earned a nursing degree from Delaware Hospital School of Nursing in Wilmington. Mrs. Hight worked as a nurse in various parts of the country. She retired when she was 82. She is survived by her husband of 66 years, the Rev. Harold D. Hight; five children, L. Kim, husband of Diane Hight of Wilmington, Del., Leilani, wife of Larry Napp of Portage, Wisc., Sharon, wife of Ben Wheeles of Scottsburg, Ind., Rejean, wife of Mike McGilliard of Fort Myers, Fla., Loralee, wife of Bill Holiman of Virginia Beach, Va.; 14 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; her brother, Norman Ford; and her sister, Charlotte Billings. Three siblings, Calvin Ford, Erwin Ford, and Donna Ford, are deceased.
A memorial service will be held from the Quarryville Presbyterian Retirement Community, 625 Robert Fulton Highway, Quarryville, at 11 a.m. on Friday, December 13. Friends may call from 10:30 to 11 a.m. Additional services will be held at the Rushville Community Church, 10 Gage Rd., Rushville, Pa., at 1 p.m. on Saturday, December 14, with Commander William Holiman, U.S.N., officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Mission to the World, P.O. Box 116284, Atlanta GA 30368, or the American Cancer Society, 314 Good Dr., Lancaster PA 17604.
