Frederick E. McMichael, Sr., age 87, of Oxford, PA, went home to be with his Lord & Savior on Wednesday, November 4, 2020. He was loved and cared for by his wife June M. Cregger McMichael, with whom he celebrated 60 years of marriage with on April 20th. He was born in Philadelphia, son of the late Franklin J. & Gladys Irene Brehm McMichael. He was a member of the Grace Baptist Church of Oxford and a graduate of Oxford High School Class of 1951. Joseph “Joe” Lafayette Pugh, 91, passed away Sunday, November 1, 2020 at his home in Ware Presbyterian Village, Oxford. He was born to Emmett and Bessie Yates Pugh on September 20, 1929 in Konnarock, VA along with his twin sister, Mary who arrived first. Their grandmother always said, “He kicked her out!” Joe lived in Konnarock with his parents and seven siblings until moving to Pennsylvania as a teenager. Shortly thereafter, he met his future wife, Helen Fritz. While waiting for her to finish her schooling, he enlisted in the US Army and served two years in Germany followed by five years in the Army Reserves. Joe and Helen who he always called by her childhood nickname of “Huddie” married on October 28, 1950 and celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary on October 28th, just four days before his death. Anna E. (Charles) Wilson, 92, of Quarryville and formerly of Strasburg, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, October 30, 2020 at the Quarryville Presbyterian Retirement Community. Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late John R. and Mary E. (Sollenberger) Charles. She was married to the late Chester H. Wilson for 64 years at the time of his passing on November 7, 2012. Anna was a graduate of Lampeter High School. She was a homemaker and helped her husband on the family’s dairy farm in Strasburg. Chester and Anna were long time stand holders at Lancaster’s Central and Southern Markets, where Anna was known as the “celery lady”. She also worked for Hodecker’s Celery Farm and was an active member of New Providence Mennonite Church. Annie K. Erb, 87, formerly of Bart, died Friday, October 30 at Oak Leaf Manor South in Millersville11/2/2020
Annie K. Erb, age 87, formerly of Bart, passed away on Friday, October 30, 2020 at Oak Leaf Manor South in Millersville. She was the wife of Charles L. Erb for over 63 years. Born in Eden Township, she was the daughter of the late George E. and Annie Brown Welk. She was an active member of Georgetown United Methodist Church serving as the church secretary and organist for many years as well as serving with United Methodist Women. She worked at the former Farmers National Bank in Quarryville. Annie was a member of the Special Division of Bart Fire Company. Ephraim L. Smucker, son of Jacob E. and Katie S. Lapp Smucker of 69 Oak Road, Kirkwood, was stillborn on Friday, October 30, 2020 at home.
In addition to his parents he is survived by his brothers: Amos L., Samuel L., John L. and twin brother Elam L. all at home, grandparents: Barbara Stoltzfus Smucker wife of the late Samuel Smucker of Kirkwood, John and Nancy Stoltzfoos Lapp of New Park, great-grandparents: Mary Smucker of Gordonville, John and Fannie Esh Stoltzfus of Kirkwood, and Aaron and Mattie Stoltzfus Lapp of Gordonville. William R. (Bill) Pellman passed away at Landis Homes on Wednesday, October 28th, where he lived for five years. He was born March 10, 1924 in Richfield, Snyder County, PA to LeRoy and Elizabeth (Lauver) Pellman. He was married to the love of his life, Ruth (Huber) Pellman, for 61 years, before her passing in January 2013. Bill had the experience of working on several “cattle boats” in his late teens; then worked on a couple of farms in Lancaster County. It was during that time he met Ruthie at Mennonite Central Committee, where she worked. They got married, lived in Akron for a few years, then moved to Leola where they lived for 22 years before building a house in New Holland and moving there for many happy years together. Bill spent 32 years working in marketing at Victor F. Weaver Poultry. That job gave him a solid foundation in food sales, which would prove useful in the early 70’s. |
