James Carl Cisney of Lancaster, PA went home to be with the Lord, surrounded by his loving family, on December 18th, 2021 at 12:24pm. He was born in Blairs Mills, PA on February 10th, 1941. Born the son of James Newton Cisney and Hazel Grace (Parson) Cisney, he is proceeded in death by his 7 siblings: Elder Jay Cisney, Elizabeth “Mae” Cisney Rohrer, Edith “Anna” Cisney Robinson, Cecil Cisney, Clement Cisney, Naomi Cisney and Alma Cisney Blakeslee. Carl attended Orbisonia High School. After marrying his first love, Sarah Jane, they relocated and built their home in Lancaster County. Surviving is his wife, Sarah Jane (Try) Cisney - as they celebrated 60 years of marriage this year. He is also survived by 2 children, Deb Hart (Charnjit) and Lee Cisney (Lea) 3 grandchildren, Chyanne Hart (Michael), Zachariah Cisney (Nicole) and Amanda Leggett (Zadok) and 6 great-grandchildren. Michael A. Cummings, 56, of Black Horse Road, Paradise, PA died Friday, December 17, 2021 at Penn Medicine Lancaster General Hospital. He and his wife Georgann Giberson Cummings were married in April of 1997. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of Florence M. Steffy Cummings of Paradise and the late Marvin L. Cummings. Michael started his career as a truck driver at the age of 16. He also enjoyed being a taxi driver for the Amish community. He enjoyed family gatherings at Wawa, eating Tastykake Kandy Kakes, Harley Davidson motorcycles, the Dallas Cowboys, driving his Marmon truck, but mostly spending time with his family and grandchildren. Betty Lou Schneider, beloved wife, mother and grandmother passed away peacefully with her family by her side on December 4th after a courageous battle against cancer. Betty, also known to her family most lovingly as Mima, was 80 years old and the heart and soul of her family. She was fiercely devoted to her 4 children and 8 grandchildren. When not behind the fine jewelry counter at Macy’s, a career she enjoyed very much for over 25 years, she could regularly be found at any number of sporting events, concerts, plays or dance recitals. She never missed an opportunity to show up for her family or let them know how much she loved them. She had an infectiously positive outlook on life and raised her family with an attitude that anything was possible with faith, trust and a little pixie dust (as well as hard work). Betty grew up on a farm in southern Lancaster county with her beloved parents Samuel Carrigan and Susan McFalls who preceded her in death, as well as her older sister Evelyn. Her father was her rock and was a fixture in the Schneider household right up until his death. George A. George A. Laukhuff, Jr., 79, of Quarryville, passed away on Tuesday, December 14, 2021 at Lancaster General Hospital due to traumatic injuries he sustained in a motorcycle accident on November 6. He was the husband of Linda M. (Wettig) Laukhuff, with whom he shared 45 years of marriage. Born in Lancaster, he was a son of George A., Sr., and Anna Mary (Suter) Laukhuff. Early in his career, George was employed as a truck driver for J&L Steel. He then went on to be employed by Armstrong World Industries, retiring with 20 years of service. George had a passion for motorcycles and rode as much and as often as he could. For a hobby, he enjoyed woodworking, especially building bird houses. He also enjoyed watching the squirrels, birds, and other wildlife in his backyard. George was a member of Riverside Camping Association. To those who knew George, he had a wonderful sense of humor, was always laughing, always happy, and he treated everyone with love and kindness. Jacob M. Judith Mary Mahan, 80, of Oxford, departed this life on Tuesday, December 14, 2021 while at the Ware Presbyterian Retirement Community. Born in Salem, NJ, she was the daughter of the late George P. and Abigail (Garrison) Gibison. Judith had worked as the Post Master in Quintin, New Jersey. She was an avid genealogist and enjoyed cooking. She is survived by 2 sons: William D. Mahan of Manheim and Philip D., husband of Maryann Mahan of Kirkwood. Mulford, Jr. Francis J. “Frank” Novack, III, 61, formerly of Oxford, went home to his Heavenly Father on Monday, December 13, 2021 at Green Meadows Rehabilitation Center.
Born in Lancaster, he was the son of Francis, Jr., and Peggy M. (Mann) Novack. Frank was a 1979 graduate of Penn Manor High School. He went on to work as a car salesman for several car dealerships in Lancaster. He enjoyed NASCAR, Philadelphia Eagles football, building models, and keeping up with family and friends on Facebook. Geraldine “Gerry” Harber, age 89 of Willow Street and formerly of Lancaster, passed away on Sunday, December 12, 2021 at The Glen at Willow Valley. She was the wife of the late Andrew W. Harber and the late Henry W. Welch. Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late John and Frances Milner Cinkowski. She attended Saint James Episcopal Church in Lancaster. Gerry was a member and a mentor for the Rotary Club of Lancaster, and a member of the Hamilton Club of Lancaster. In her free time, she loved thrifting and traveling all over the world. Glenn Y. Glenn Y. Eshleman, 89, of Foal Court, Lancaster, PA passed away on Sunday, December 12, 2021 at Penn Medicine Lancaster General Hospital. Born in Strasburg Township, he was the son of the late Harrison B. and Anna Yingling Eshleman. Glenn worked as an accountant for 25 years. In 1977, he pursued his life-long dream to become a professional bus driver. He worked for Red Rose Transit Authority for 21 years. Following his retirement he drove motor coach for Conestoga Tours for 13 years, traveling to Canada, the Eastern United States, and Midwest. Darren Lane Van Sant, 61, of West Gove, PA passed away on Saturday, December 11, 2021 at Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, Philadelphia, PA. He was the husband of Kimberly Johnson Van Sant with whom he shared 37 years of marriage. Born in West Chester, he was the son of Shirley Porter Van Sant of Palmyra and the late Richard Van Sant. Darren was a lifetime resident of West Grove. He graduated from Avon Grove High School Class of 1979. He was employed with the County of Chester Facilities Department, in the Government Services Building in West Chester, for 34 years. Darren enjoyed softball, golfing, fishing, hunting, riding motorcycles and had a love for classic cars and the beach. He especially loved spending time with his family. |
