Arlene C. “Leeny” Douts, 99 1/2, of Martic Heights Drive, Holtwood, PA, passed away Tuesday, May 7, 2019. She was the widow of Curtis W. Douts who passed away March 7, 1999. Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Elvin and Etta Hart Erb. A homemaker, “Leeny” was a long time member of Mt. Nebo United Methodist Church. She loved to sew and quilt, enjoyed gardening, and was a bird enthusiast, especially about her favorite birds, the Baltimore Orioles. Minnie Maria Moss, 92, wife of the late Elliot W. Moss and daughter of the late Martin and Emily (Brown) Kyttle, went to be with Jesus on May 3, 2019. Minnie received the gift of eternal life in 1977 as she was led to the Lord by Pastor Minnich’s wife, Thursa. As soon as her feet hit the floor every morning, she would read her bible. Minnie is survived by Retah Zook, (wife of Samuel), William Moss, (husband of Fay), Rose Henry, (wife of Ronald), Cheryl Wright, (wife of Ralph), Cindy Moss, (daughter-in-law), 11 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild. She was preceded in death by a son, 2 grandsons, and 11 brothers and sisters. Shirley Marie (Harnish) Helm, 88, of Willow Street, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on April 30, 2019 at home, surrounded by her family. Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Ralph and Bertha (Nonannmocher) Harnish. She was the loving wife of Paul W. Helm for 68 years. Shirley grew up on a dairy farm in Southern Lancaster County, and graduated from Solanco High School in 1949. She lived an exciting life going from milking cows and doing field work, traveling on a motorcycle, piloting her father’s plane, driving solo to Texas, to living on Shepherd A.F.B. for two years while Paul was stationed there. In addition to being a private-duty caregiver, her biggest accomplishment and joy was being a wife, mother, and homemaker. Susan E. Curran, 55, of Kirkwood, PA passed away peacefully in her home on Monday, April 29, 2019 after a courageous 7 year battle with pancreatic cancer. She was the beloved wife of Patrick Curran for over 38 years. Born in Oxford, PA she was the daughter of Darrell and Patricia Roark Mckinney of Nottingham, PA. Susan graduated from Oxford Area High School. Susan lived a fulfilling life as a loving wife and mother to her children and grandchildren. She was a friend to many and was always there to brighten the day. Through her life she touched so many people with her love and generosity. She will be greatly missed for her immense care for others. Susan also loved gardening and her many pets. She had a strong faith in God and practiced Christian principles in her life. To know her was to love her. |
