Mark E. Worrell, 58, of Quarryville entered into rest on Thursday, May 19, 2016 at his home. Born in Chester, he was a son of the late Howard and Marjorie (Van Horn) Worrell. He was married to Barbara A. (Stalker) Worrell for over 26 years. Mark was a carpenter by trade. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and raising champion Beagles. He was an active and passionate member of the United Kennel Club. Robert McIntire Stewart, Sr., 83, of Oxford, passed away on Sunday, May 15, 2016 at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, Philadelphia. Born in Oxford, PA he was the son of the late Norman and Elizabeth Jamison Stewart. Robert was a veteran of the US Army and served during the Korean War. He was employed with the US Postal Service, Oxford as a mail carrier and retired in 1991 after 32 years of service. Robert was a member of Nottingham Presbyterian Church. He was also a member of the American Legion #535, Oxford, Union Fire Co. #1, Oxford, Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #2666, Oxford, and past Sachem of the Ocklokonee Tribe #212 I.O.R.M., Oxford. Robert enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. Donald J. Richardson, 56, of Quarryville, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, May 15, 2016 at home surrounded by his family. Born in Lancaster, he was a son of Willis and Dorothy (Wiser) Richardson. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Barbara (Strawser) Richardson. Donald graduated from Solanco High School, class of 1977. He proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corp from 1977-1981. He then went on to work for High Steel Structures, Inc. for over 33 years. Don was a Harley enthusiast and an avid Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies fan. He was a member of New Providence Church of God, the American Motorcycle Assoc., and the Gentleman’s Motorcycle Club. He enjoyed traveling to Myrtle Beach, the Florida Keys and spending time with his family, especially his granddaughter. Elvin R. Wert, 71, of Mt Airy Road, New Providence, PA was welcomed into his eternal home at Hospice and Community Care, Mt. Joy, PA on Thursday, May 12, 2016 following a courageous three year battle with cancer. He and his wife Judy A. Frick Wert celebrated 46 years of marriage. Born in Hessdale, PA he was the son of the late Ralph A. and Verna M. Eshleman Wert. Elvin retired from Kunzler Meats where he was employed as a meat packer/processor. He previously had been employed by Armstrong, Thompson, Hamilton Tech, and in construction. He proudly served his country in the US Air Force during the Vietnam War. Elvin was a member of New Providence Church of God and the Solanco Farmer’s Sportsman’s Association. He enjoyed shooting archery, hunting, fishing, gardening around his home, and NASCAR, especially Jimmy Johnson. His biggest enjoyment was spending time with family and grandkids. William R. “Billy” Mace of New Providence died at home Thursday, May 12, 2016. He was 80.
Born in McAdoo, Pa., he was the son of the late William R. and Mary A. (Leist) Mace. Mr. Mace graduated from McAdoo High School and went on to serve his country in the U.S. Army in Korea. After serving, he continued his education at Penn State University graduating with an associate’s degree in Mechanical Engineering. He worked for various companies, including 20 years at the former RCA in equipment development as a designer/draftsman. He was extremely proud of the fact that he designed and built his own home with the help of his wife. Brenda C. Moore, 55, of Millersville PA, passed away on Tuesday, May 10, 2016. She was the wife of Curtis J. Moore. They had celebrated 35 years of marriage. Brenda had been employed as a gardener at Longwood Gardens. She was a member of Crossway Church, Millersville, PA. Brenda loved her family, enjoyed family functions, and going on adventures. She was born in Lancaster PA, a daughter of the late Roy and Dorothy Heffner O'Donnell. Bruce E. Thomas of Jonestown, PA passed away after a lengthy illness on May 6, 2016 at the Hospice Residence of Central PA in Harrisburg, PA. Born in Coatesville he was the son of Ann “Dolly” (DiObilda) Thomas, and the late Joseph A. Thomas, Sr. He grew up in Christiana, attended Octorara Area High School, and was a highly skilled welder during his younger years, as well as a very talented artist. He was a very loving son. In his later years Bruce was an auto racing photographer at Grandview Speedway and many other area race tracks. He was a member of the Eastern Motorsports Press Assoc. and was an authorized press representative for the Area Auto Racing Newspaper. He did bible study weekly at home with Anthony Manning. James W. Phipps, 87, of Peach Bottom went home to be with his Lord on Friday, May 6, 2016 at his home surrounded by his family. Born in Wrightsdale, he was the son of the late Verner P. and Pansy (Johnston) Phipps. Jim and his wife, Mabel L. Rowland Phipps had celebrated 64 years of marriage in November. After graduating High School, Jim served his country in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. After returning home he worked as a mechanic at the former H.H. Wiggins and Duvall Chevrolet and went on to retire from Yellow Freight. Jim was a life member of Wrightsdale Baptist Church. He enjoyed traveling, hunting and fishing along with building and flying RC planes, restoring old Corvairs and spending time with his family. Kurt L. Norstrom, 44, of Scott Road, Nottingham, PA died unexpectedly of natural causes on Thursday, April 21, 2016 at Lancaster General Hospital.
Born in Landstuhl, Germany he was the son of Allen Curtis Norstrom of Roseto, CA and the late Arelette K. Stern Norstrom. He was employed a fire suppression specialist for the past 20 years. Richard D. Weaver, 53, of Peach Bottom PA, passed away on Tuesday, May 3, 2016.
Dicky was born in Lancaster PA, a son of Billy Joe and Doris E. Graybill Weaver, Peach Bottom, PA. He enjoyed fishing offshore, riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle, and his Baltimore Ravens. He had been employed by Chesapeake Harley Davidson, Darlington, MD. |
