Bigger, faster, stronger
The Havre de Grace boys lacrosse team was simply too much for a plucky Perryville squad. The host Warriors limited the Panthers to one goal over the final three quarters en route to a 12-4 victory in the playoff opener Friday night at Harris Stadium. The Rising Sun boys lacrosse team completed a regular season sweep of county opponents for a third consecutive season with a resounding 15-3 victory at Perryville Friday night.
"Each year it keeps getting better," senior defender Ethan Greene said. "This is the last time us five seniors are going to come out and play together in the regular season. It just feels great to come out win a win, especially to sweep the county. It feels great." The Tome boys lacrosse team blanked Bohemia Manor 7-0 Monday, April 23.
Mark LoPresto led the Titans with three goals. The Rising Sun boys lacrosse team came up a goal short for the third time this season.
The Tigers (2-6) fell to visiting Havre de Grace 11-10 Wednesday night, April 17. Connor Diem seized the day.
North Harford's senior attackman scored the game-winner 1:34 into overtime to lift the Hawks over the Rising Sun boys lacrosse team 8-7 Wednesday, April 11. Perryville boys lacrosse coach Chris Soper saw signs of improvement during the second half of his squad's season-opening 13-1 loss at Havre de Grace Friday night.
He freely acknowledges there is still a lot left to work on for the Panthers. Perryville boys lacrosse are off to good start with a 13-7 triumph over visting Harford Tech in play off action last Wednesday, May 10. After losing to Rising Sun last week, the Panthers were ready to capture a win. "Harford Tech has ended our season the last two years and it (was) really important for us to get a win. When the draw came out on Monday, when the coin flip was done and we found out that our kids had them(Harford Tech), our kids were really excited to play," said Perryville head coach Chris Soper. "(This) was a great opportunity to get the taste out of our mouths from last weeks loss to Rising Sun, against a good opponent. We were excited to get them and try to sharpen our skills against them." Rising Sun boys lacrosse ended their regular season with an 11-7 triumph over visiting Perryville Thursday night, May 4. The Tigers are 11-1 heading into the playoffs. "Before I took this job, I had this misconceived perception that this team at Rising Sun didn't work as hard, they were a white collar team, and they were kind of expecting things to be fed to them on a silver spoon and from the day I got here, these kids proved to me that I couldn't have been more wrong about this school and about this program. This team has got the most heart that I have ever seen on a lacrosse field," said Rising Sun head coach Justin Parker. Colby Brown, captured 14 saves for the Tigers, which kept them in the game.
Rising Sun defeated the Elks at home, 15-8 on April 5. "Brown single-handedly, kept us in the game. Our entire team owes this win to him, because with out his play, we (would) go into half-time down a few a goals," said Rising Sun head coach Justin Parker in an email. The Tigers and the Elks had a tight game through the first half with the Elks leading by one goal. |
