Like many of her Rising Sun High School classmates, Samantha McMinn grew up playing sports with aspirations of becoming a college athlete.
McMinn has achieved that objective. McMinn a RSHS senior, earned a scholarship to play wheelchair basketball at The University of Arizona. The University of Arizona is one of the top wheelchair basketball programs in the nation and captured the National Wheelchair Basketball Association title in 2012 and 2014. Elkton's boys basketball team improved to 3-0 on the season with a 68-63 triumph over visiting Bel Air Friday night.
The Perryville girls basketball team dropped a pair of games last week.
The Panthers lost 55-44 to host Havre de Grace Thursday night. The Bohemia Manor boys basketball team went on a 10-0 spurt midway through the fourth quarter en route to a 61-57 victory over host Perryville Tuesday night, December 11.
The Rising Sun boys basketball team outlasted Tome 52-49 in a back-and-forth game Monday night, December 10.
Elkton broke open a tight game with three three-pointers early in the fourth quarter on the way to a 50-39 triumph over host Perryville in the two teams' girls basketball season opener Friday night.
Rising Sun's Kendra Stamper poured in 25 points against her former school as the Tigers opened the girls basketball season with a 46-26 triumph over visiting Tome Thursday night, December 6.

Reese, a senior at Perryville High School, recently signed a letter of intent to further her education and continue her softball career at Florida International University. FIU is an NCAA Division I school located in Greater Miami and is a member of Conference USA. |
