Rising Sun's football team assured itself of at least a .500 record by routing host Harford Tech 42-7 Friday night.
The Tigers have won five of their last six games and are 5-4 heading into Friday night's finale against visiting Perryville. Now the Rising Sun girls soccer team can turn its attention to Fallston.
The Tigers took care of business Friday afternoon, defeating North East 4-0 in the opening round of the region tournament. Kyleigh Knell and Taylor Poore each recorded a hat trick as the Perryville field hockey team rolled to an 11-0 win over visiting North East Thursday afternoon.
It was one winning streak Rising Sun volleyball coach Rich Wilson didn't mind see come to an end.
The Tigers' string of 41 straight regular season victories ended Wednesday night with a loss at undefeated Delaware Military Academy, two-time reigning state champs and the Number 1 ranked team in Delaware. The Seahawks prevailed 14-25, 21-25, 25-18, 25-16, 15-7. Round 1 to Rising Sun.
There will be much more at stake in Round 2. The Tigers' boys soccer team topped visiting Harford Tech 1-0 Tuesday afternoon, October 27 in a playoff preview. The two teams meet in the second round of the playoffs Tuesday night, November 3 on Tech's turf. The Rising Sun girls soccer team closed out the regular season with a 3-0 triumph over host Bohemia Manor Monday afternoon, October 26.
At halftime of its final regular season home game, the Rising Sun boys soccer program honored members of its 2005 state finalist squad.
Then the 2015 Tigers went out and played like the team from 10 years ago. In a matchup of two Perryville graduates, Tyrell Hollingsworth's team topped Darryl Johnson's squad.
The Rising Sun cross country team traveled to Perryville Thursday afternoon.
Because of AP testing, the Tigers brought just three girls to the meet. Alanah Bell won the race in a time of 20:41 with Perryville's Aleah Losoya second (22:23), and the Tigers' Danielle Lee third (22:46). The Rising Sun volleyball team got a bit of a scare on Senior Night.
