The Perryville boys basketball team routed visiting Bohemia Manor 65-35 Tuesday night, January 28.
It was over early. The Rising Sun wrestling team split a pair of home dual meets Monday, January 27.
The Tigers topped North East 51-24. The Rising Sun girls basketball team raised its record to 9-2 with a 45-25 triumph over visiting Perryville Friday night.
The Rising Sun boys basketball team lost 62-41 to host North Harford Thursday night.
The Hawks scored the first seven points of the game before Kevin Alkinburg put the Tigers on the board with 4:31 elapsed. "It's the story of our season is us coming out in games sometimes and playing flat," Rising Sun coach Matt Haack said. "We came out completely flat. No energy. No willingness to play physical basketball. And they spanked us for the first seven or eight minutes of the game." The Rising Sun girls basketball team recorded two victories and played well in its lone loss of the week.
The Tigers downed visiting Havre de Grace 49-37 Thursday night. The Rising Sun wrestling team defeated visiting Perryville 49-27 last Wednesday.
The Panthers jumped out to an 18-0 lead on a Kaine Delancy pin over Max Foppiano at 195 and forfeit wins from Aengus Vervier and Logan Kelly. When schools are closed, many school employees have an opportunity to catch up on their busy workloads or get to enjoy a day off. Athletic directors aren't usually that fortunate. The cancellation of sports games creates a whole new set of problems. Havre de Grace started the second half on a 12-3 run and defeated the Panthers 78-61 Tuesday night, January 14.
It was a nip and tuck first half with the Panthers taking a 29-25 edge into intermission on a dunk by Tyrell Hollingsworth at the buzzer. The Rising Sun boys basketball team dropped a 56-44 decision to visiting Fallston Monday, January 13.
Jesse Shields hit three three-pointers and supplied 11 points and four steals for the Tigers. Spencer McDermott recorded 10 points, three rebounds, and two steals. Kevin Alkinburg added eight points and two rebounds. Brandon Aro was mired in early foul trouble and finished with six points, six rebounds, and four blocks. Rising Sun led 11-3 in the first quarter before Fallston rallied and eventually broke the game open in the third quarter.
