The Perryville boys soccer team dropped a pair of games last week.
Joppatowne pounded the Panthers 6-1 last Thursday afternoon. It didn't take long for Perryville's Claire Hudson to get an edge on her sister Kendie.
Claire Hudson scored just 49 seconds into Monday night's game at the University of Delaware as the Panthers went on to a 4-0 triumph over the North East squad coached by Kendie Hudson. The Rising Sun girls lacrosse team topped visiting Joppatowne 18-5 Monday, May 5.
Sarah Yashinskie paced the Tigers with four goals and four assists. The Rising Sun field hockey team nipped Joppatowne 1-0 Friday.
Brianna Bailey scored the game-winner following a corner with 4:50 remaining in regulation. Mallory Tiffin picked up an assist. Maddie Hurm, making her second varsity start, recorded five saves to notch the shutout. Coach Julie Eller said Rachel Brown and Mary Clausius both had a strong game to help the outstanding defensive performance. The Rising Sun football team fell to 0-4 on the year with a 22-14 loss to visiting Joppatowne Friday night. The Tigers could not convert on 4th and goal from the 5 when a shotgun snap eluded quarterback Benn Lukk with 8:10 left. Rising Sun got another chance when Josh Anderson recovered a fumble on his own 24 with 3:35 remaining. Facing a 4th and 3 from the Joppatowne 33 with 1:31 to go, Dan Willert came up a yard shy of the first down and Joppatowne ran out the clock. Willert and Alex Billings each had success on the ground. Willert rushed for 60 yards on 12 carries and Billings gained 43 yards on 14 attempts. Lukk completed 10 of 17 passes for 117 yards. Ryan Barrick caught four passes for 51 yards and two touchdowns.
