It finally seems as though the Panthers are back to being themselves. Perryville upped its winning streak to four with a 7-3 triumph over host Rising Sun Wednesday afternoon. The Perryville boys and girls track and field teams celebrated Senior Day with a sweep of the last regular season meet.
In the girls competition, the Panthers (101.17) prevailed handily with the Tigers (46.33) ahead of Harford Tech (38.5). The Rising Sun tennis team improved to 13-0 on the season with an 8-3 triumph over visiting Harford Tech Monday.
The Tigers swept the five boys matches. Two of the three boys singles matches were decided by a third set super tiebreaker. The Perryville boys lacrosse team ended six years of frustration against rival Rising Sun Monday night.
The Panthers prevailed 10-5 on the Tigers' Senior Night, the latest milestone in their breakthrough season. The Perryville girls lacrosse team annihilated Aberdeen 19-2 on Senior Night Thursday.
The Panthers scored five goals in the first 2 minutes, 7 seconds on the way to the rout. The Perryville boys lacrosse team routed visiting Edgewood 15-3 in the rain Wednesday afternoon.
Host C. Milton Wright swept the Chesapeake Division track and field meet Tuesday.
The Mustangs (158) claimed the girls competition over Perryville (145.5), Harford Tech (71.83), Aberdeen (56), Bel Air (55.33), Edgewood (49), and Bohemia Manor (18.33). Brooke Doane paced the Panthers by winning the long jump and placing second in both the triple jump and 800. Savelle Brown scored on a free position shot with two seconds remaining as the Elkton girls lacrosse team spoiled Senior Night for Rising Sun by beating the Tigers 17-16 Tuesday night.
Heather Amos had tied it for the Tigers with 31 seconds left in regulation. The Rising Sun boys lacrosse team rolled to a 15-1 rout of host Edgewood Monday afternoon.
