The Rising Sun boys lacrosse team completed a regular season sweep of county opponents for a third consecutive season with a resounding 15-3 victory at Perryville Friday night. "Each year it keeps getting better," senior defender Ethan Greene said. "This is the last time us five seniors are going to come out and play together in the regular season. It just feels great to come out win a win, especially to sweep the county. It feels great." Senior midfielder Quinn Struble collected four goals and two assists as Tigers sealed a 4-0 mark vs. Cecil foes. "That's always a big thing for every county school," he said. "This is the third year straight so it's good to do that. We knew we could do it and we executed."
Ben Ehrhart posted three goals and two assists. Mason Santos supplied three goals and an assist. Ryan Yashinskie and Cade Eyman both tallied twice. Greene, Drew Opp, and Hunter Russell each added a goal. "We've had some bad mojo coming in with some losses to the Harford County teams," Struble said. "A big win like this against an in-county team, we had a lot of fun. We have a lot of motivation going into the playoffs." Santos intercepted a pass back to the goalie and scored to give the Tigers an early lead and Ehrhart made it 2-0 with six minutes left in the first quarter. Gavin McBride put Perryville on the board before Rising Sun reeled off eight unanswered goals. The Tigers tallied six goals in a span of 4 minutes, 58 seconds to take an 8-2 edge and added a couple more before the Panthers' Kyle Burns made it 10-2 at halftime. "We've definitely gotten better through the year," said Greene. "We usually start flat, but today we came out firing [against Perryville] and we didn't ease up. I think that's what is going to help us as we go into the playoffs. The more we push it, the more we play together, I think we're going to win some [playoff] games." Greene says the Tigers have learned from a bunch of close defeats against Chesapeake Division foes. "Looking back at it now we could've won all of those games if we just could have done the little things," he said. "I don't think there's going to be any more one-goal games. I think from now on, we're going to come in dialed in and hopefully make a run in the playoffs. Comments are closed.
