The Rising Sun field hockey team is poised to bounce back from a disappointing two-win season. Sent down to the Susquehanna (lower) Division, the Tigers will certainly win more games and coach Julie Eller is confident her team will put a better product on the field. "I expect we'll be competitive in every game," she said. "There's a positive attitude all the way around." Rising Sun will rely on a mix of youth and experience.
Freshman Caylee Hall is slated to start in goal. "She's a wonderful athlete and has experience at the club level," said Eller. Senior Rachel Brown, juniors Emily Easter and Mary Clausius, sophomore Macey Coale-England, and freshman Katie Wagner will lead the defense. "Defense has always been the backbone for Rising Sun," said Eller, who played back for the Tigers. Talented senior captain Devon Wesley will spearhead the midfield. Eller has been impressed with Wesley's leadership qualities. Seniors Sam Beatty and Mai Hall, junior Payton Dziemburski, and sophomore Heather Amos will also contribute. Brianna Bailey, the team's leading scorer last year, returns at forward. Junior Mallory Tiffin, senior Megan Haraldsson, and sophomores Kelsey Perkins and Lorrie Bowman will chip in. "I feel more comfortable about this year's team," Eller said. "They all give 100 percent effort and support each other. All of the seniors have shown a lot of leadership." Comments are closed.
