Slideshow of Rising Sun's Zach Van Dyke scampering home and avoiding the tag to score the winning run in the Tigers' victory over Harford Tech Thursday. The Tigers scored in the home half of the seventh to down Harford Tech 6-5 Thursday. Zach Van Dyke smacked a single to right-center to start the bottom of the seventh and advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt by Daniel Richardson. After Harford Tech elected to intentionally walk Adam Janney, Tommy Stover singled through the hole and Van Dyke slid around the tag at the plate. PHOTO GALLERY ON NEXT PAGE Harford Tech scored twice in the top of the seventh to tie the game and it could have been worse had the shortstop Janney not made a spectacular play. Janney ranged quickly to his right to field and grounder and fired to first from his right knee to get an out.
Cole Benjamin tossed a complete game with 10 strikeouts to earn the win. Van Dyke finished with two hits and two RBIs. Janney, Nick Luciano, and Sean Goodie each had an RBI. The Tigers and North Harford were tied at 7 after nine innings of play last Tuesday. The game will be completed April 25 prior to the regularly scheduled meeting between the two teams in Rising Sun. The Hawks scored two runs in the seventh to tie the game Rising Sun committed seven errors while North Harford made four miscues. Each of Rising Sun's first four wins came in their last at bat. Rising Sun rallied for six runs in the sixth inning to upend Elkton 7-3 in the opener. The Tigers recorded extra innings wins over both C. Milton Wright and Bel Air. Comments are closed.
