Connor Burkhardt tallied twice for the Tigers and Brad Alexander and Randy Rash each recorded a goal. Alexander and Brandon Aro each notched a pair of assists. Rising Sun advanced to the region baseball semifinals with a 3-1 victory over visiting Harford Tech. There was a scary moment in the sixth when Tigers' starting pitcher Cole Benjamin was hit on the side of the head by a line drive. The ball caromed behind the first base bag where Nick Luciano made the catch. Chris Melrath came on to record the final five outs. Tommy Stover, Nick Luciano, and Daniel Richardson each had an RBI double for Rising Sun The Tigers host Fallston Wednesday at 4 in the regions semifinals. Rising Sun's softball team upended North East 6-5. Winning pitcher Megan Keene drove in the go-ahead run with a sacrifice fly in the sixth to plate Lexi Osborne. Maddie Foard singled and doubled and drove in three. Brooke Bower singled twice. Paige Bradford had an RBi single and scored twice. Taylor Allen had a hit and scored a run. Jess Borchardt scored a run and Lexi Barclay added a hit. Rising Sun hosts Harford Tech Wednesday at 4 in the region semifinals. Bohemia Manor ended the season of the reigning two-time region champion Perryville softball team with a 2-1 triumph in eight innings. The Panthers broke through with a run in the top half on a Brooke Wills sac fly before the Eagles rallied to prevail. Sydie Bjork (three assists) and Taylor Poore each scored six goals to propel the Perryville girls lacrosse team to a 19-5 rout of Elkton.
