Don't mess with success. That's the way Rising Sun High School's volleyball team is preparing for playoffs. "We really didn't do anything special, just a normal between match work outs," said head coach Rich Wilson. Now the Tigers are preparing for the regional finals. If they win, they'll go on to the state tournament. A win there would give the team its second state title in two years. The Tigers lost only one game last year, to Delaware Military Academy. This year the Tigers were able to preserve their undefeated status and beat the Delaware Military Academy 3-2 on September 12. Their success continues as they finished the sectional finals with a win over Fallston on November 9. Lacey Swartout led the team with six aces; she also had seven digs. Breanne Haley had eight kills. MacKenzie Blevins had six kills. Maddy Eckerd contributed five blocks. Sarah Williams had three digs. As the team advances to regional finals, they are only down one player, Liz Zatalava, who is out with a knee injury. She won't be able to play for the rest of the season said Wilson. The next game for the Tigers will be Friday, November 11, with an as-yet undetermined opponent. Coach Wilson believes that this next regional game may be more of challenge. "Since we don't know them; so from that stand point yes. Historically the lower eastern shore has been relatively weaker but from year to year its tough to tell" said Wilson. The Tigers are taking things one step at a time as they continue there journey to Regional finals. "We are focusing on one game at a time, it's a one and done thing so you can't get to high, you can't get to level, you try to stay at some kind of even keel." said Wilson Comments are closed.
