Chasing down the playoffs. North East's Chase Hollister scored 11 of his 19 points in the second half as the Indians ousted the Tigers 53-49 in the sectional quarter finals last Friday, February 24. "Hollister hit several big three's and as I said before little things add up to big things," said North East head coach, Alan Foskey. "I thought our defense was a little better. I thought our wings dropped really well and got into the passing lanes and disrupted a lot of things and then we shot the ball a lot better then we have in the past. We held the ball when we needed to, I just think they played a lot smarter." "Those three pointers, really were daggers and when they did get opportunities to get down the court they beat us down the court," said Rising Sun head coach Don Passenant.
The Indians set the tone from the start, leading by six at the end of the half. "It was really intense. The fans were really into it. I just think we executed things the way we should have and the team listened to the coach and did what they were supposed to do," said Hollister. Rising Sun's Curtis Cox racked up 10 points in the second half in attempt to down the increasing deficit but was taken out of the game due to foul trouble. "He (Cox) had four fouls on him and he still played a great game. He played hard and towards the end he made some big baskets," said Passenant. "It was tough (taking him out). He is a major force underneath." "When he came out that was a real relief for us. He was unstoppable, (he's) a great player and great guy," said Hollister. North East leading scorers were Hollister with 19 points, followed by Kobie Matthews with 15. Top rebounders were Tim Webster and Payton Hoskins with 11. For Rising Sun, Cox scored a total of 12 points, grabbed 13 rebounds and made five blocks. Casey Baker nabbed eight rebounds and made five steals. David Moore added nine points and made three assists. Comments are closed.
