![]() Both the Rising Sun boys and girls track and field teams finished second to Bel Air in a home tri-meet last Thursday. In the girls competition, the Bobcats (79) downed the Tigers (55.5), and North East (51.5). Rising Sun's Heather Martin had a huge meet with wins in the high jump, pole vault, and triple jump. Valerie Bragg prevailed in the long jump and Josie Brown triumphed in the 3200 meter run.
North East's Erin Palmer and Kaitlyn Henderson each won an individual event and were part of two winning relay teams. Palmer took the 800 and Henderson captured the 1600. Palmer, Henderson, Crystal McCollum, and Briana Bruckart teamed to take the 4 x 400 relay. Palmer, Henderson, McCollum, and Hannah Bubar combined to win the 4 x 800 relay. Sarah Kubat (shot put) and Susan Travis (discus) each won an event. In the boys team standings, Bel Air (90) defeated Rising Sun (57), and North East (36). Kevin Alkinburg (3200), Josh Anderson (shot put), and Alex Kerns (discus) each recorded a victory. Jose Herrera, Marquis Topp, Jose Ramirez, and Martin Stillwell triumphed in the 4x200 relay. Topp, Ramirez, Damion Bishoff, and Cody Thomas combined to capture the 4 x 400 relay. Bishoff, Thomas, Bryce Calhoun, and Ian Gompers prevailed in the 4 x 800 relay.
