The Rising Sun boys basketball team lost 62-41 to host North Harford Thursday night. The Hawks scored the first seven points of the game before Kevin Alkinburg put the Tigers on the board with 4:31 elapsed. "It's the story of our season is us coming out in games sometimes and playing flat," Rising Sun coach Matt Haack said. "We came out completely flat. No energy. No willingness to play physical basketball. And they spanked us for the first seven or eight minutes of the game." North Harford led 16-4 at the end of the first quarter before scoring the first seven points of the second quarter.
"It's been rough the way we have a habit of digging ourselves into these holes," said Haack. "You can't play from behind when you're down 15-20 points. We have to find a way as a team to come out aggressively, control the ball, and play smart halfcourt offense in the first quarter. And we haven't been able to do that." The Tigers tallied five straight points to trim the deficit to 14 but the hosts countered with a 7-0 spurt and breezed the rest of the way. The Hawks held a 30-10 advantage at halftime and led by as many as 26 points in the third quarter. Rising Sun got as close as 51-36 with 4:48 left when Jesse Shields scored six points on one possession. He made three free throws after a foul and technical foul and then drained a three-pointer. But North Harford scored nine straight to extend their lead back to 24. Shields finished with a team-high 10 points. Alkinburg added eight points and three rebounds. Brandon Aro recorded six points, eight rebounds, and six blocks. Naim Collins contributed six points. Comments are closed.
