The Perryville softball team swept a doubleheader from Harford Tech last Thursday. The Panthers won the nightcap 12-1 in five innings after taking the opener 17-4 in five innings. In the second game, Kaitlyn Willis struck out 11 to earn the victory. She was 2 for 4 with two RBIs and two runs scored. Brooke Wills was 2 for 4 with a triple, RBI, and two runs scored. Krystle Schweers doubled twice and scored a pair of runs. Molly Staley supplied two hits and an RBI. Emily Baker singled twice.
Emily Phillips, Erin Murphy, and Nikki Hill each singled and scored. In the lidlifter, the Panthers scored 14 runs in the bottom of the fourth to snap a 3-3 tie. Perryville had three home runs in the inning. Lydia Hill and Murphy hit back-to-back roundtrippers. Hill's was a three-run homer. She hit a hard hopper to the left of the shortstop. It rolled between the leftfielder and centerfielder and Hill circled the bases. Murphy followed with a liner to right that skipped between the centerfielder and rightfielder for a home run. Later in the frame, Wills blasted her second home run of the game. She finished 3 for 4 with six RBIs. Her three-run homer in the bottom of the first had given the Panthers a 3-0 lead. Tech responded with three runs in the top of the second to tie it. Willis, Schweers, Staley, and Murphy each recorded two hits. Baker, Jules Jones, and Emily Phillips each contributed a hit. Phillips fanned four to pick up the win. C. Milton Wright defeated the Panthers 6-0 last Wednesday. Comments are closed.
