Perryville Sierra Montz capped off an outstanding meet with a state title in the 300 intermediate hurdles at the MPSSA Track and Field Meet Saturday at Morgan State University. Montz also placed fourth in the triple jump and seventh in the high hurdles to go along with a third place finish in Thursday's long jump. Montz led the Panthers to a school-record second place finish in the team standings. Manchester Valley won the team title with 102.5 points while Perryville scored 87 points. The Panthers also claimed a state title in the 4 x 400 relay with Autumn Estep, Jordan Dodson, Alysa Conway, and Taesha Andre teaming for the win. Estep, Conway, and Andre combined with Angelica Conway to capture gold in the 4 x 200 relay Thursday. Dodson capped off an outstanding career with her fifth state title, two in outdoor track, two indoors, and one in cross country. The reigning two-time state champion Perryville boys (54 points) placed fourth behind champion Pikesville (91.5), North Carroll (57), and Colonel Richardson (56). Bohemia Manor (42) tied for fifth with Northwestern of Baltimore. It was a remarkable run for the Perryville boys senior class with finishes of 3rd, 1st, 1st, and 4th. The Eagles' Ty Franks won the 1600 meter run and was sixth in the 800. Tyear Castle was the runner-up in the pole vault. Complete photo gallery and more results will be posted online Sunday.
