North East ousts Rising Sun from district Junior baseball tourney

    The North East All-Stars eliminated Rising Sun from the Little League Maryland District 5 Junior Division baseball tournament with a 15-11 triumph Monday evening.
    Winning pitcher Chase Hollister had four hits, including two doubles, and finished with three RBIs. Drake Bare (two-run double) and Eric Steele (two hits) each had two RBIs and scored three runs.
    Tyeler Buchanan, Chase Klein, Colin Balthaser, and Mason Rice each had an RBI. Patrick O'Brien, Sebastian Nagovich, Dylan Armstrong, and Luke Hamilton each supplied a hit.

    Rice came on in relief to get the final five outs.
    Hollister's two-run single gave North East a 2-0 lead in the top of the first.
    Rising Sun responded with three runs in the home half. Jonah Davis bounced a single to right, stole second, and advanced to third on an error. Phillip Lyons followed with an RBI single to right. After Hunter Cole was hit by a pitch, Brady Krahn delivered an RBI single to center and David Moore hit a sacrifice fly.
    Krahn, who was injured in a scary collision with a teammate in last Thursday's game, also added a double in his return to the Rising Sun lineup.
    North East took command with five runs in the second. Buchanan and Hollister each had an RBI single.
    North East extended the lead to 11-4 and Rising Sun never got closer than six until the last inning.
    Jimmy Williams and Lyons each drove in two runs for Rising Sun.
