It typically takes the Perryville boys lacrosse team some time to get into the flow of the game. The Panthers did not have that luxury Friday afternoon. Harford Tech captured the Susquehanna Division tournament downing Perryville 8-7. The game started April 20 and was tied at 7 when play was suspended by lightning with 9:47 left in the fourth quarter. Trying for their first-ever division title, the Panthers were unable to possess the ball and played defense for most of the last nine minutes. Tech took the lead on Steven Mills' fourth goal of the game with a little less than two minutes to go. "It was kind of like the usual where we take a long time to get started and settle in and possess the ball," said Perryville coach Brandon Townsend. "That wasn't our goal but that seems to be what happened to us yet again. We played amazing defense there for about seven, seven and a half minutes. But we made some poor decisions and lost possession of the ball and never really had it on offense." Perryville was awarded the ball when Tech committed an infraction on the ensuing faceoff but the Panthers turned the ball over on an errant pass before they could set up their offense. Joey Carter collected three goals and one assist back on April 20. Ruvim Kolosey tallied twice. Nick Roberts recorded one goal and three assists and Connor Bowman chipped in a goal. The Panthers (8-3) had their seven-game win streak snapped. "This team has come a long way in a short period of time," said Townsend. "I definitely think they've shown people they're serious about being a good lacrosse team. It's a setback but it's one they're going to bounce back from. We have a lot of lacrosse to play so we're looking forward to taking it to Edgewood Tuesday and then whoever we play in a playoff game Friday and making that a great game as well."
