It's time to close the gap. The score gap that is, for Bo Manor's girls lacrosse team. "Our overall goal is to have more goals scored this year than last," said head coach Brianna Davis. The team's record last year was not the best, but the girls continue to come back to play. There are about 33 girls returning to the team this year. Davis wants the girls lacrosse program to continue to grow. "It's getting bigger (each season)," she added. She is counting on her returning seniors to lead the team to a better season than last. Those leaders are: Stacie Rand, Hayleigh Soukup, Gabby Augustine, Cassidy Hufford, and Hayley Thompson. Following a 14-2 season last year, Perryville girls lacrosse team is ready to take on the Chesapeake division. Head Coach Mary Dunman has high hopes and confidence in her experienced team. "Moving up to the Chesapeake division has been a team goal for five years and now it is here," said Dunman.
The team lost their starting goalie to graduation but Dunman says they are still intact. "Our biggest hurdle is (that) we took a defensive hit, a two-year goalie. That is the communications in our defense," she said. There are 13 returning players this year. Out of the 13, there are seven seniors to help lead the team. "Having four to six seniors growing together for four years, is a great staple for our program," said Dunman. "We are looking at this season game by game. (We are) working at what we need to correct for the next step. (The) coaching staff is always confident that our players will grow together and work for bettering themselves, we can't ask for anything more." North East's girls lacrosse head coach Joe Burkhardt is happy with how his team is performing so far in the pre season. There are five returning seniors this year. Burkhardt has high expectations for all five and wants them to lead the team to a great season. Following an even season, Elkton girls lacrosse are striving for a better one. Having a 6-6 regular season and a 7-7 post season record last year, Elkton girls lacrosse head coach Kelly Zimmerman believes her team will excel. "I think we are going to be good." she said. The team has 10 returning starters this year. Zimmerman is looking for senior leadership from two returnees, Erin DePaul and Delaney Shertz. "With all the returners and (our) goalie with another year of experience, we are going to do well," said Zimmerman. Comments are closed.
