Reigning state champion Ty Franks of Bo Manor captured the boys individual title at the Maryland Track & Trail Invitational at Fair Hill Saturday. Franks (16:32) powered past Nikolai Rhodes of Queen Anne's (16:42) in the final quarter mile. Perryville turned in an impressive third place finish in the team standings. Northern (76) won the team title with Kent Island (84) second and the Panthers (108) third. Teammate Caleb Stevens was 12th followed by Tyler McCall (20th), Shawn Montz (34th), and Justin Harreld (36th).
Bo Manor, which will be expected to challenge for the 1A state team title along with Perryville, placed seventh. The Eagles' Chandler Brooks was fourth followed by Luke Salata (28th), Jonathan Smith (107th), and Damion Puzzo (111th). Rising Sun was ninth in the 17-team field. Joey Hurm led the Tigers with a 21st place finish followed by Damion Bishoff (29th), Ian Gompers (52nd), Seth McKeown (61st), Phillip Hurm (83rd). Elkton was 11th paced by a 33rd place finish by Zaavan Kenenske and Seth Martinez (44th), Shawn Halert (46th), Sam Wheel (60th), and Patrick Gerhard (75th). North East placed 16th with John Eicher (69th) and Austin Elko (102nd) leading the way. Perryville's Jordan Dodson (eighth) was the top county finisher in the girls race. The Panthers placed seventh in the team standings with Allison Morris 34th, Aleah Losoya 35th, Grace Williams 50th, and Didem Akbay 68th. Rising Sun was eighth led by Autumn Russell (16th), Emma Wheeler (40th), Cate Dyrnowski (62nd), Kiona Brady (63rd) and Brinley Farrall (69th). North East's Kaitlyn Henderson turned in an impressive 11th place finish to help the Indians place ninth as a team. Crystal McCollum was 36th followed by Natalie Moyer (52nd), Kaci Amos (94th), and Sabrina Thierry (104th). Bo Manor was 10th. The Eagles' Jamie Rhudy was 19th with Marisa Koulen 60th, Shannon McCloskey 67th, Emily Lindsay 72nd, and Katie Shields 80th. Elkton's Lena Muldoon had a big race to place 12th as the Elks were 12th in the team standings. Makayla Peterson was 53rd followed by Megan Clelan (76th), Elizabeth O'Neil (93rd), and Alex Alvarez (105th). Oxford (Pa.) took the team title and Jessica Narr of Cambridge-South Dorchester won the race. Rising Sun and Elkton competed in a meet with Havre de Grace and Edgewood at Fair Hill Tuesday, September 10. The Tigers' Joey Hurm captured the boys race as the Tigers finished second behind the Rams. Muldoon prevailed in the girls event and Russell's second place finish led the Tigers to a team victory.
