The Elkton football team overcame three early fumbles and a plethora of penalties to pull away for a 28-10 triumph over visiting North East Friday night.
The Elks (2-0) fumbled on their first three possessions and fell behind 3-0 on a 27-yard field goal by the Indians' Drake Bare with 5:08 left in the first quarter. Elkton responded right away. Nolan Null connected with Tashawn Watters for a 49-yard scoring strike to put the hosts ahead 7-3 just 55 seconds after the North East field goal. Sometimes it's not how you start, it's how you finish.
Alex Longeway of Bohemia Manor finished first again. The Eagles' junior overcame a sluggish first 200 meters to capture the 1600 meter state title Saturday at Morgan State – his second championship of the meet. The North East baseball team advanced to the region title game with another come-from-behind victory over a county rival.

Call it a crazy comeback. Blood dripping from his nose following a raucous celebration, while trying to choke back tears, North East's Colt Price understandably could not control his emotions as he attempted to describe his team's remarkable comeback victory over Rising Sun Saturday afternoon. "We got down," Price said. "In baseball, you don't want to drop your head when you get down, but we got down a lot and it was looking rough for us. The last inning, these dudes, family, bro. They fought to the end, man. It's crazy." Molly Dill tossed a complete game as the Rising Sun softball team topped North East 5-1 Monday night, April 30.
The North East baseball overcame an early four-run deficit to defeat host Rising Sun 8-6 Monday afternoon, April 30.
North East swept the Susquehanna Division track and field meet held Tuesday, April 24.
The host Indians captured both the boys and girls team competitions. The Perryville team improved to 5-0 on the season with a victory at North East Wednesday afternoon, April 10.
The Rising Sun baseball team scored six runs in the top of the second inning en route to a 9-2 triumph over host North East Monday, April 9.
