The Solanco softball team won three of four games last week. The Mules defeated Ephrata 10-0 in five innings Friday, a day after just their second loss of the season.
"It was an important game to get back on track after Thursday," coach Brett Miller said. "The girls responded well, were focused and ready to play especially with the pending weather approaching." The Solanco boys track and field team topped Lampeter-Strasburg 84-66 Tuesday, April 22.
Toby Kreider and Billy Cooney each won two events to pace the Mules. Kreider won the triple jump (41-0) and long jump (19-10 1/4). Despite a difficult week, the Solanco baseball team remains in good position for a league playoff berth and likely can still qualify for districts by winning the rest of their regular season games.
The Mules' section title hopes were dealt a death blow by Ephrata Thursday. The Solanco JV softball team compiled a 2-2 record last week.
The Mules dropped a 12-8 decision to visiting Ephrata Friday. It was a rough week for the Solanco JV baseball team.
The Mules suffered four losses in a four-day span. Ephrata defeated Solanco 12-2 in five innings last Thursday. Matt McCarriston, Dawson Gote, and Mike Worthington pitched for the Mules. Only four of the Mounts' runs were earned. "Again the defense came apart," coach John Girvin said. "When the Mules put the ball in play the opponent's defense was flawless." Zack Leonard carried a no-hitter into the seventh inning and then got some help from his defense to preserve a shutout as the Solanco baseball team topped Penn Manor 5-0 Friday.
Leonard allowed a clean single with one out in the seventh. The next batter blasted a shot off the left field wall, but the baserunner was gunned down at the plate on a relay throw from James Rohrer to shortstop Brady Thomas to home. The Solanco JV baseball team won two of three games last week.
Penn Manor defeated the Mules 12-3. "It wasn’t the Mules day as pitchers and fielders struggled," coach John Girvin said. In fact, the time limit on the game (1 hour and 45 minutes) forced the game to end after five innings. The Solanco boys track and field team topped Ephrata last Wednesday while the girls lost to the Mounts.
The Mules won the boys competition 90-60. The Solanco JV softball team recorded three victories last week.
The Mules topped Penn Manor 9-2 Friday. Kalyn Burger and Makayla Pluck combined to pitch Solanco to the victory. The hits keep coming for the Solanco softball team.
The undefeated Mules (7-0) outscored its three opponents 42-7 last week. Solanco pummeled Penn Manor 18-3 in four innings Friday. |
