Solanco needed one win over Warwick Little League to capture the District 23 championship whereas the visitors had to post two consecutive victories to take the title. Instead of hedging its bet, Solanco elected to put all the eggs in one basket and did not crack under the strain, earning the district crown with an 8-3 triumph Tuesday, July 12 at the Solanco Little League Complex. The Solanco 12U Section One team's solid season ended in the opening round of the LNP Tournament with a 12-3 loss to Penn Manor Wednesday night, July 6, at Solanco Little League.

Solanco put itself in good position by beating Warwick 11-4 Sunday, July 10. The tournament hosts are scheduled to play for the championship Tuesday night, July 12, against the winner of the previous night's Warwick-Tulpehocken losers bracket game. The team that emerges from the losers bracket needs to top Solanco twice. Quarryville reclaimed the lead in a weird sixth inning and defeated Memory 21 4-3 in a Quad County Baseball League game Wednesday night, June 29, at Lancaster Mennonite High School.
Things are getting back to normal for the Solanco girls basketball program.
Summer camp was canceled because of Covid in 2020 and there were 36 participants last year. The 2022 version, held at the high school last week, had 52 aspiring basketball players. |
