Solanco 12U Section One baseball falls in playoffs

    The Solanco 12U Section One team's solid season ended in the opening round of the LNP Tournament with a 12-3 loss to Penn Manor Wednesday night, July 6, at Solanco Little League.

    Penn Manor swept the best two of three series, taking the first game 5-4 on June 29.
    Solanco had finished the Lanco Youth Baseball regular season with a record of 10-7-1 to earn the sixth seed in the tournament.
    In the season finale, Penn Manor tallied three times in each of the first three innings to claim a 9-0 advantage.
    Solanco got on the board in the bottom of the third. Colin Ryan led off with a walk and Derek Phipps reached on an error to put runners on the corners.
    Ty Sensenig hit a fly ball to right which turned into a double play, but Ryan was able to tag up and score.
    Solanco made it 9-2 with a run in the fifth.
    Jeremiah Herr drew a walk and Landon Shaubach followed with his team's first hit of the night, an opposite field single through the hole. Chase Sims plated Herr with a sharp single past the second baseman.
    Garrett Aukamp notched the other Solanco hit, a single with two outs in the sixth.
