Solanco's track teams visited the Eagles on Tuesday, April 18; the good news being the girls won their second meet of the season (97-53). The bad news? The boys lost (60-90). by Bud Hart
It was a great week for the Solanco junior varsity softball team as two pitchers each threw a one-hitter. Sierra Dean limited Warwick to a single base hit in an 18-2 victory at Warwick on Monday, April 17, and Skyla Townsley followed later in the week, limiting McCaskey to one-hit in a 21-0, three inning stomping on Wednesday, April 19. On her way to the win over the Warriors, Dean struck out 10 and walked three. “Sierra had good control and located her pitches well,” wrote head coach Chad McDowell. “She pitched outs. I am proud of the way Sierra threw the ball.” by Bud Hart
The Solanco junior varsity split their week’s contests, losing to Warwick on Tuesday, April 18, and bounding back for a win over McCaskey on Wednesday, April 19. Coach Chad McDowell has the softball junior varsity team rolling as they won all three games this past week to remain undefeated.
On Monday, April 10, Solanco shut out the Ephrata Mountaineers 14-0 behind Skyla Townsley, who struck out 11, walked only one, and threw a five inning no-hitter. Solanco's varsity softball team opened up their four-game schedule last week with a 6-1 win over the visiting Ephrata Lady Mountaineers. Pitcher Hanna Phillips was dominating inside the circle. The sophomore windmiller struck out 13, issued no walks, scattered four hits and allowed only one earned run.
