When Derek Jennings and his sister, Priscilla, were younger, the siblings would run from their home on Oak Bottom Road to their grandmother's house near The Buck with their mother, Teresa, trailing in the family van.
More than 25 years later, Derek and Priscilla followed in the family footsteps by joining their parents in an exclusive club. Derek Jennings and Priscilla Jennings Landis were each inducted into the Solanco Cross Country Hall of Fame during the program's end of season banquet. Freshman Anthony Solis-Morales turned in an outstanding performance to lead Solanco at the Lancaster-Lebanon League Cross Country Championship Meet, held at Ephrata Middle School Tuesday, October 15.

The boys squad lost to Cedar Crest 15-53 and to Manheim Township 17-45. The girls fell to Cedar Crest 15-49 and to Township 16-51. "Coming off a fast and hard race [the previous] Saturday at Lock Haven our squads responded very well to our difficult course," Ausel said. "Our team goal is be competitive and improve with every race and we did that. Manheim Township and Cedar Crest are by far the two strongest teams in our league." The Solanco volleyball team has spent the two previous seasons setting a foundation.
Now it's time to see what the Mules can construct. "We're still in the building process but I have set the bar pretty high because we have tons of talent," Solanco coach Meghan Cross said. "It's a motivated group who wants to play. They've been working well together. We still have a young team. I look forward to the next couple of years. This team will continue to grow in their confidence and their volleyball." By Bud Hart
