The Solanco Junior High boys and girls track and field teams both defeated visiting Cocalico in the last dual meet of the season to finish with a 5-2 record.
The Solanco girls track and field team downed Cocalico 83-67 and the boys fell 88-62 in a home meet under warm, sunny conditions Tuesday, April 23.
Solanco's Junior High track and field teams both improved to 3-1 on the season by beating Garden Spot in a home meet Tuesday, April 9.

"Both teams went up against good teams," Mules coach Ivan Haines said. "Both teams are trying to overcome the lack of experience. We are trying to focus on individual goals." Solanco boys and girls track and field teams opened the season with a home meet against Manheim Central Wednesday, March 27.
The Barons won the boys competition 101-49 and took the girls meet 84-66. Solanco's boys and girls track and field teams will be judging this season's success on the athletes' individual goals, coach Ivan Haines said.

Solanco's track teams visited the Eagles on Tuesday, April 18; the good news being the girls won their second meet of the season (97-53). The bad news? The boys lost (60-90). Solanco's Billy Cooney captured two district gold medals and Troy Miller prevailed in one event and finished second in another.
Cooney won the 110 hurdles in 14.42 and the 300 hurdles in 39:30. Both the Solanco boys and girls track and field teams topped Lebanon Monday, April 18.
The boys (4-0) earned an important section victory, 82-68. "We matched up with Lebanon pretty well in all events," Mules coach Ivan Haines said. "In order to win, we had to earn as many seconds and thirds as possible." Solanco's track and field teams swept visiting Elizabethtown last Wednesday.
Jen Eberly won three individual events to help spark the girls to an 82-68 triumph. Eberly captured the 100 hurdles (18.0), 300 hurdles (51.2), and long jump (16-5, district qualifier). |
