The hits keep coming for the Solanco softball team. The undefeated Mules (7-0) outscored its three opponents 42-7 last week. Solanco pummeled Penn Manor 18-3 in four innings Friday. Sam Graver blasted a two-run homer to plate Emily Parmer in the first. Parmer belted a grand slam in the second and Maribeth Ault and Brittany Fisher clubbed back-to-back run-scoring triples.
The Mules tacked on five more in the bottom of the third, highlighted by a three-run triple by Fisher. Fisher wasn't finished. She ended the game in the fourth with a blast to left-center that would've been a home run had it not ended the game because of the mercy rule. "We had some good, solid contact," coach Brett Miller said. Kortnee Kreider struck out three to notch the win. "She threw with good velocity and was working on her pitch command," said Miller. "She showed good form at times." Solanco routed Lebanon 14-4 in six innings last Thursday. The Mules tallied four times in the first. Cait Armstrong and Ault each walked and Fisher delivered an RBI double. After Morgan Hodson drew a walk, Madi Sheaffer hit a three-run double to left-center. Solanco broke it open with five runs in the fifth. "It gave us an opportunity to get some different players in the game," said Miller. "Emma Kreider, Haley Conklin, Kate Hart, and Bekah Borcky each contributed." Armstrong earned the win, recording eight strikeouts, no walks, and a hit batsman. "She threw well enough to win the game," said Miller. She's still working on her velocity." The Mules upended Cocalico 10-0 in six innings last Wednesday. In the second, Kortnee Kreider walked and Emma Kreider came on to run. She moved to second on a passed ball, to third on a fielder's choice, and scored on a Fisher sac fly. In the third, Abby Heidelbaugh and Graver walked. Armstrong singled to load the bases. Kortnee Kreider produced an RBI single, Ault added a two-run double, and Fisher belted a run-scoring triple. Kerri Mauger mashed a two-run homer to deep left-center in the fourth. Solanco ended the game in the sixth. Armstrong singled up the middle and runner Sydney Sturgill scored on a Kortnee Kreider double. Fisher doubled to plate courtesy runner Emma Kreider. Kortnee Kreider got the win, recording seven strikeouts while yielding two hits and a walk. Comments are closed.
