Sarah Marilda Welch of Elkton died at home September 13, 2014. She was 65.
Born in Tazewell, Va. on May 22, 1949, she was the daughter of the late Silas and Idana Sparks Jeffrey A. Schneider of Elkton died Friday, September 12, 2014 in the Paoli Hospital, Paoli, Pa.. He was 55.
Born in Elkton on July 16, 1959, he attended Elkton High School. Mr. Schneider was a carpenter who retired due to disability. Delores Clayton Coulter of Rising Sun died September 12, 2014, at Season Hospice at Christiana Hospital. She was 83. Born in North East on December 22, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Marshall W. and Martha Meekins Purner. She was a loving wife and mother, whose life exemplified her faith in God. She had a special connection with children including her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and children in the community. She was a Sunday school teacher, tutor, and writer of children's books and poems. Thomas Gary Janney, Sr. of Rising Sun died at home Friday September 12, 2014. He was 69.
Born in Elkton, he was the son of the late Brown and Bertie Janney. He worked for APG for eight years until his disability. Later he went to Eldreth Construction where he was a dedicated worker for 31 years. Earl Rex “Mose” Gilley of Colora died at his home on Thursday, September 4, 2014. He was 74. He was born on March 3, 1940 in Lansing, North Carolina to Ruth Miller Gilley and Paul Joseph Gilley. The family moved to Cecil County when he was three. He attended the Jacob Tome Institute (Tome School) in Port Deposit, and joined the Air Force in 1959. He was employed at Aberdeen Proving Ground as a heavy equipment mechanic and retired after 34 years of service. Rodney Brian “Rope” Williams of North East died Friday, September 5, 2014 in Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center of Baltimore. He was 49.
Born May 11, 1965 in Havre de Grace, he was the son of Rodney Bruce Williams and Ellen Conrad Williams. Mr. Williams was formerly employed as a truck driver by Cowan of Baltimore. Harry E. "Butch" Caleb of Chesapeake City died at home on August 28, 2014. He was 77.
He was the son of the late James and Annie Caleb. Mr. Caleb retired from Chrysler Newark Assembly Plant in 1989. Charles G. Viars of Fairfax, Va. died Sunday, August 31, 2014. He was 79. He was born on May 4, 1935 in Oak Hill, W.Va. After serving his country in the Air Force, he attended Zion Bible College, which led him to preach at Aspley Assembly of God church in Nottingham, England before becoming a pastor at an Assembly of God church in Dundee, Scotland. Upon returning to the United States, he worked for the Department of Defense, Joint Chiefs of Staff, Naval Electronics Security Command and retired at age 70 from the National Security Group with 42 years of federal service. Virginia Valeria (Hague) Newton of North East died at home Monday, September 1, 2014. She was 94. Born in Still Pond on June 29, 1920, she was the daughter of the late William Nelson and the late Melvina Elizabeth (Willis) Hague. Mrs. Newton attended the Adult Day Services at Union Hospital for over eight years. She was a member of Laurel Presbyterian Church and North East United Methodist Church. Edward Bennett "Ben" Wilson, Jr. of Rising Sun died at home on August 30, 2014. He was 79. He was born in Rising Sun on September 11, 1934, the son of Edward Bennett Wilson, Sr., and Esther Harris (Ewing) Wilson, and was a lifelong resident of Cecil County. He was a graduate of Rising Sun High School and Goldey Beacom College in Wilmington, Del. He served in the Marine Corps, being stationed in California. After his military service, he sailed as a crew member on a private sailboat to Portugal and Spain. After returning to the States, he joined the Community Fire Company of Rising Sun and served as its treasurer, eventually becoming a life member and a member of its bowling team. |
