George P. Kline, 69 of North East, MD, died Friday, September 23, 2016 at home.
Born in Elkton, MD, on August 19, 1947, he was the son of the late Henry F. and Sara (Creswell) Kline. He served in the Army during the Vietnam Era. . He was a Shop Supervisor at Maryland Materials for 42 years before retiring. He was currently working part time for Bluegrass Materials. Andree Solange Caillaud VanDyke, age 90, of Rising Sun, MD, passed away on Tuesday, September 20, 2016 at the Laurelwood Nursing Home in Elkton, MD. She was born on March 5, 1926 in Bordeaux, France to the late Vallantine Caillaud and Louis Revel. Andree is survived by her children: Christine Miller (Russ) of Rising Sun, MD, Geraldine Long (Robert) of Chesapeake Beach, MD, Albert VanDyke of Charlestown, MD, and Steve VanDyke (Kim) of Milford, DE; grandsons: Shawn Miller (Wendy), Shane Miller (Tara), Robert Long III (Melissa), Michael Long (Megan), Kyle VanDyke; great grandchildren: Shawn Hunter, Jordan Miller, Adam Miller, Sierra Miller, Robert Long IV, Mia Long; brothers: Roland Revel (Yugette), Robert Revel (Nicole); and her sister, Christina DeGabrael (Pascal); and many nieces and nephews. Gary Webster Thompson, 56 yrs, of Perryville, MD, went to be with the Lord Monday, September 19, 2016 following a battle with ALS.
Born December 5, 1959 in Havre de Grace, MD, he was the son of Samuel Cecil Thompson Jr. and Betty Jane Moore Thompson of Perryville, MD. Gary was a member of the First Baptist Church of Perryville and employed by Amtrak as a Material Control Truck Driver. Robert Stanley Mitchell, 76 of Perryville, MD, passed away at his home on September 18, 2016.
A lifelong resident of Cecil County, he was born on October 29, 1939, was the son of the late Stanley Z. and Laura Jean (Reynolds) Mitchell. Robert was a retired boat salesman, employed by Jackson Marine Sales, North East, MD for over 20 years. He was an avid boater who enjoyed fishing, crabbing and was quite the outdoorsman. He also enjoyed winemaking, gardening vegetables and most recently reading. Nolen J. “Buddy” Howell, 80 of North East, MD, passed away on Sunday, September 18, 2016.
Nolen was born on November 4, 1935, and served during the Korean War in the Army. He was a retired Supervisor of Shultz Mobile Home and a Chief Custodian of Cecil County Public Schools. Along with his membership to the V.F.W. Post 6027, he enjoyed decoy carving, NASCAR, boxing, dancing and karaoke. John Thomas Sice, 84 years, of Conowingo, MD, passed away Sunday, September 18, 2016 at his residence. Born November 15, 1931 he was the son of the late Joseph F. and Alice T. Bittner Sice.
John was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and was formerly employed in the Engineering Department of the CJ Langenfelder Company of Baltimore, MD. He is survived by eight loving nieces and nephews. J. Victor Barr, 88, of New Providence, PA formerly of Oxford, PA and Rising Sun, MD, passed away peacefully Saturday, September 17, 2016 at the Coatesville VA Hospice. He was the husband of Sandra A. Lloyd Barr. Born in Lancaster he was the son of the late C. Melville and Esther Haverstick Barr. He was a veteran of the US Air Force serving during the Korean War. Vic owned and operated Barr Motor Co., Chrysler Dealership in Oxford from 1955-1993. Vic attended St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Lancaster. He was a life member of the American Legion Mason Dixon Post #194, Rising Sun, MD, Oxford Lodge #353 F.&A.M., Rajah Shriners, Reading and past President and member of the Oxford Lions Club. He enjoyed golf and was a founding member of Chantilly Country Club, Rising Sun, MD. Vic followed college basketball and especially loved his grandchildren and attending their sporting events. Ruth “Goodie” Elizabeth McMullen, age 88, of Port Deposit, MD, passed away Wednesday, September 14, 2016 at her home. Born November 15, 1927 in Wilkes Barre, PA, she was the daughter of the late Karl V. and Mary Waters Goode. Goodie was a member of the Perryville United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women, the Aiken Homemakers, the Ladies Auxiliary to Union Hospital of Cecil County, and the Aberdeen Golden Age Club. She was formerly employed as a Registered Nurse at the V.A. Medical Center of Perry Point, MD. James M. Russell, 80 of North East, MD, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 13, 2016 at home.
A lifelong resident of North East, he was born on February 4, 1936, the son of the late Annie Kline Boulden and the late James Mulford Russell. Mr. Russell retired from Aberdeen Proving Ground where he works as a high voltage electrician; He also worked for Henkles and McCoy as a tree surgeon. He was a member of Union UM Church, Elkton, MD. Joseph Gerald “Zeke” Gilley, age 81, of Colora, MD passed away on Tuesday, September 13, 2016. He was born on November 29, 1934 in Lansing, NC to the late Paul J. Gilley and Ruth Pearl (Miller) Gilley.
Zeke was a computer programmer specialist for the government. He could fix anything and enjoyed fixing electronics and cars. Zeke was an avid fan of cars and drag racing. Zeke found pleasure in the pursuit of life’s simple pleasures, including splitting wood. He was also a proud member of Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church. |
