Betty L. Fields, 80 of Elkton, MD, went to be with the Lord and her beloved husband on Thursday, September 27, 2018 at home. Born in Grundy, VA, on March 11, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Richard Dolphus and Ida Mae (Owens) Blankenship. She was the wife of the late Robert H. Fields, Jr. who passed on May 6, 2016. Betty enjoyed bingo, visiting casinos, traveling to FL and eating at diners. Most of all she loved her grandchildren and time spent with her family. She is survived by her children: Cathy Haley (Patrick) of Rising Sun, MD, Michael Fields (Robin) of Elkton, MD, Jeffrey Fields (Deborah) of Charlestown, MD and Debra Dacey (James) of North East, MD; 7 grandchildren: James Dacey, Kristin Dacey, Daniel Smith, Ashley Fields, Jamie Fields, Keith Smith, Michael Fields; 6 great grandchildren: Tori, Jaren, Cole, Kyleigh, Lilly, Caroline; and 3 siblings: Ruth Jeanette Belcher, Paul Blankenship and Susie Coleman. Mary Louise Cannoy, born March 2, 1939 to Alvin and Eugenia (Gore) Roland went to be with the Lord on September 24, 2018. Mary was employed/retired from Herr Foods, Nottingham, PA where she worked as an operator receptionist for 26 years. A member of Gateway Baptist Church, Rising Sun, MD, she enjoyed her family, church, gardening and cooking. She was the beloved wife of Charles Cannoy for 63 years; loving mother of Dawna Bibey (Bernard) of Conowingo, MD, Darlene Roland (James) of Quarryville, PA, Rebecca Reeves of Millsboro, DE, Charles Cannoy, Jr. (Beth) of Middletown, DE and Angela Smith (James) of Mosheim, TN. She is also survived by John Roland of VA, Betty Dancy, Charlotte Shaw, Edward Roland all of NC, Carol Savage of OH; 16 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren, with one on the way. Violet M. Moore, of North East died at home on Sept. 22, 2018. She was 79.
Born in Lancaster, Pa., she graduated North East High School in 1957 and has lived most of her life in North East. She had various jobs throughout her life, including the Ordnance Munitions factory during the 70s on Mechanics Valley Road in North East. Timothy J. White, Sr. of Elkton died Sunday, September 16, 2018. He was 36.
He was born in Newport, R.I. on May 26, 1982. Mr. White worked for Comcast cable as a contractor. Louis N. Theodore, 82 of Elkton, MD, passed away Thursday, September 20, 2018 in Elkton, MD.
Born on December 15, 1935, in Pottstown, Pa., he was the son of the late Anthony and Frances (Sikalis) Theodore. Mr. Theodore served honorably in the U.S. Army stationed in Korea as a paratrooper where he earned his Master Jump Wings. Robert Willard Anderson, Sr. of Elkton died Thursday, September 20, 2018. He was 83.
Born in Elkton on May 1, 1935, he was the son of the late Harry W. and Evelyn Pyle Anderson. Mr. Anderson was a farmer and retired from the Chrysler Corporation, Newark, Del., as an assembler. He loved fox hunting, farming, snowmobiling, four-wheeling, and going to Potter County. Clayton M. Vant Hoff of Townsend, Del., formerly of Heritage Park, Wilmington, Del., died at home Tuesday, September 18, 2018. He was 90.
Born in Waupun, Wisconsin, on March 26, 1928, he was the son of the late Albert and Sadie (Sommers) Vant Hoff. Raised on a farm with his seven brothers and a sister, he knew what hard work was and he was an example of what hard work and determination can accomplish. While still in Wisconsin, running his own egg business, he met his wife Wilma (Billie). They would go on together, moving to Delaware, growing their family and eventually realizing a dream of building what would be the family business, Action Coffee, for 40 years. Shirley Jane Bibey of Perryville died at home Wednesday, September 19, 2018. She was 80. Born October 23, 1937 in Vivian, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Milburn Bynum and Clara Belle Patrick Jones. Mrs. Bibey was a league bowler at Harford Lanes of Aberdeen for 40+ years and was a member of the Good Sam Camping Club. She operated, alongside her husband Kenneth, Bibey Trucking Co., Inc., for many years. Mrs. Bibey is survived by her son, Curtis Dale Bibey and wife, Tammy, of Perryville; daughter, Joyce Elaine Karschner and husband, Calvin, of Perryville; grandsons, Calvin Karschner Jr. (Chelsea Weber), Sean Pollock (Samantha Fitch) and Charles Karschner (Nikki Leonard); and great granddaughters, Alexia Karschner and Cora Leigh Karschner. Ann Bradley Taylor of Rising Sun died at home Tuesday, September 18, 2018. She was 91.
Born in Port Deposit on June 30, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Harlan and Elsie (Hurford) Bradley. She was a lifelong member of Shelemiah UM Church, Bayview, where she spent countless hours volunteering. She was devoted to helping others and also volunteered at the Perry Point VA Medical Center. Oliver Craig McLanahan of Conowingo died Saturday, September 15, 2018. He was 6 days old. Oliver was born on September 9, in Elkton. He is survived by his parents, Kenneth C. III and Catherine McLanahan, his siblings, Ashlynn and Trenton Wilson; maternal grandparents, Sharon Brown (Harold Goff) and Terry and Patricia Brown; paternal grandparents, Kenneth C. Jr. and Leocea M. McLanahan; paternal great grandparents, Kenneth C. McLanahan Sr. and Kate Herbert; maternal great grandparents, David C. and Nancy W.
