Patricia Ann Charsha, 64 years, of Perryville, MD, passed away Wednesday, April 25, 2018 in University of Maryland Harford Memorial Hospital of Havre de Grace, MD. Born July 28, 1953 in Wilmington, DE, she was the daughter of the late Hugh M. Helm, Sr. and Mary T. Lucey Helm.
Patricia was employed as a material handler by the U.S. Health & Human Services of Perry Point, MD. She is survived by her husband, Gettis Charsha of Perryville, MD; sons, Albert E. Nichols, Chris M. Nichols, Gettis Parker Charsha; daughters, Crystal May Charsha and Lynise Jean Charsha; and eight grandchildren. Gertrude Adline “Peachie” Sellers, 78 of Elkton, MD, passed away Saturday, April 28, 2018 at Christiana Hospital, Newark, DE.
Born in Hendricks, WV, on June 17, 1939, she was the daughter of the late Walter Henry and the late Goldie Adline (Johnson) Blizzard. Mrs. Sellers retired from RMR where she worked on Motor Assembly. After retirement, she worked tirelessly cleaning new homes for builders. She was a member of Mercy Baptist Church, North East, MD, where she was also a member of the Women’s Book Club. She also enjoyed making a variety of crafts. Michael Arthur McKinney, 62 of Elkton, MD, passed away Friday, April 27, 2018.
A lifelong resident of North East, who recently moved to Elkton he was born on August 13, 1955, the son of the late Arthur R. and Helen Opal (Fields) McKinney. Prior to his retirement, Michael worked as a Brew Master at Irishtown Brewing Co. This was a job he greatly enjoyed. He also enjoyed music. Robert F. Baughman, Sr. 87, of Oxford, passed away on Wednesday, April 25, 2018 at Masonic Village Home, Elizabethtown, PA. He was the husband of Jane Marie Baily Baughman of Oxford. Born in Cochranville, he was the son of the late Ferree and Reba Hogg Baughman. He farmed in Oxford and was a manager for Capital Bakers, Baltimore, MD before retiring as manager for Washington National Insurance, Coatesville. After retirement he was employed part time for McLeod Auto Sales, Pinno Pontiac, both of Oxford and Ramsey Ford, Rising Sun. Robert was a member of the First Baptist Church of Oxford and the Christiana Lodge #417 F.&A.M He enjoyed traveling, camping, hunting and gardening. He especially enjoyed growing tomatoes. He is survived by his wife; one son, Robert F. Baughman, Jr. (Lisa) of FL; three daughters, Jennifer Lucas (Richard) of Rising Sun, MD, Kathy Ham (Lawrence Angelini) of Columbia, PA and Laura Kasting of Pickens, SC; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter; and one sister, Joyce McDowell of Oxford. Michelle Renee Cain-Riggsbee, 35 years, of Port Deposit, MD, passed away Saturday, April 21, 2018 in the Christiana Care Health System of Newark, DE. Born October 22, 1982 in the Francis Scott Key Hospital of Baltimore, MD, she was the daughter of Wilfred Bernard Cain and Carol Ann Cain of Port Deposit, MD. Michelle is survived by her parents, Wilfred Bernard Cain and Carol Ann Cain; husband, Johnny Riggsbee III; brother, William Bernard Cain; nephew, Daeshon William Cain; niece, Autumn Cain; mother-in-law, Cynthia Young; aunts, Phyllis Brown (Rev. Blane Brown), Brenda Griffin, Denise Cain, Gloria Cain; uncles, Bishop Claude Waldon, Franklin Griffin (Tammy), Daniel Elwood Burton (Ann), Donald Burton (Gale), Kevin Burton (Tracey), Jeremy Burton, Samuel Webster (Faye), Rodney Cain and Michael Cain (Joy). Michelle accepted the Lord at a young age and was baptized by Rev. Steven Deveaux of the First Baptist Church of Port Deposit where she was an usher and sang in the youth choir. Michelle graduated with honors from the Perryville High School in June 2000 and went on to attend Albright College, appeared on the dean’s list, and received a Bachelor of Arts degree. She also received a Masters of Education from Jones International University and a Teacher Leadership degree from the University of Phoenix. In addition, Michelle won first place in a drafting competition at the Delaware Technical Community College. George William Baker, 81 years, of Perryville, MD, passed away Tuesday, April 24, 2018 in Seasons Hospice of the Christiana Care Health Services of Newark, DE. Born June 11, 1936 in Port Deposit, MD, he was the son of the late Vernon Cornelius and Keturah Anne McCain Baker.
George was a veteran of the U.S. Army and formerly employed as a Prudential Life Insurance Agent. In 1977 George founded Baker & Hughes Inc. of Elkton, MD. George is survived by his wife of 60 years, Anna Leone Hamilton Baker of Perryville, MD; daughters, Mary Turah Jones of Wewahitchka, FL, Melinda-Ann Baker Roth of Reisterstown, MD, Monica B. Baker of Towson, MD, Madge A. Baker of Perryville, MD; six grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; sisters, Eleanor Harris, Ethel Atkinson and Virginia B. Coleman. Margaret Dorothy Cifaldo Jackson of Port Deposit died Tuesday, April 24, 2018, in the University of Maryland Harford Memorial Hospital, Havre de Grace. She was 91. Born May 13, 1926 in Port Deposit, she was the daughter of the late Angelo and Angela Ciarlo Cifaldo. Mrs. Jackson attended the Jacob Tome Institute in Port Deposit and she enjoyed a long career as a seamstress with the Bata Shoe Company of Belcamp and in food service with the Cecil County Public School System. She was an honored 50+ year member of the Ladies Auxiliary to the Water Witch Fire Company and was a valued 30+ year board member for the Port Deposit Heritage Corporation. She was a member of Relay for Life Team, “Bethany’s Angels,” raising money for the American Cancer Society each year. Mrs. Jackson enjoyed baking pies, playing bingo, dominos, and cards; volunteering for the fire company, her church, and her community; crocheting doilies and knitting baby blankets. Nancy Ernestine Johnson, age 85, of Rising Sun, MD passed away Saturday, April 21, 2018. She was born in Elkton, MD on October 29, 1932 to the late Charles and Mary (Knight) Kempa.
Nancy was an employee for Chrysler. She enjoyed working in her yard and planting flowers. Nancy was a great cook and shared her talents with her son, Paul. She loved her family and cherished the moments they spent together. Nancy also loved her dogs. She and her late husband, Joseph would walk them frequently at the Community Fire Company of Rising Sun. Lanny W. Scott, 76, of Conowingo, Maryland, entered into rest on Saturday, April 21, 2018 at Union Hospital in Elkton, MD.
He was the son of the late Horace and Edith (Long) Scott. He was the loving husband of Phyllis (McVaugh) Scott for 53 years. Lanny was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was an active member of Moore’s Chapel United Methodist Church. An avid fisherman, he was also a member of the Delaware Surfcasters. In addition to his wife, Lanny is survived by 3 children: Doug, husband of Sandra Scott of Fredericksburg, VA; Kris, wife of Conal Carr of Bellefonte, PA; and Tina, wife of Walter Ritchie of Conowingo, MD; 9 grandchildren: Sandy, wife of Stephen Ewing, Jordan, Kaela, Emily, Laura, Abbie, Sarah, Leah, and Olivia. Norma Kay Aleshire of North East died Wednesday, April 18, 2018 in the Christiana Hospital, Newark, Del. She was 76. Born in Bradshaw, W.Va., on December 24, 1941, she was the daughter of the late David L. and Birtie M. (Delp) Carter. Mrs. Aleshire worked as a senior tax advisor for H & R Block. She retired from Avon where she was an assembler. She was a member of North East Church of God. She enjoyed reading, but what brought her the greatest enjoyment was her family and time spent with them. |
